Product Description

Artist TwoTone 25 Watt All‑Valve Combo Amp w/ Spring Reverb & Optical Tremolo

Inspired by the legendary British and American amplifiers of a bygone era, the Artist TwoTone delivers the finest in vintage guitar tone from both sides of the Atlantic.

With two all-valve channels, each an entirely unique sounding amplifier in its own right, the TwoTone might just be one of the most versatile valve amplifiers on the market. Where a typical dual-channel valve amplifier switches between a clean and distortion circuit, the TwoTone features two independently voiced preamps, which can be dialled in for anything from crystalline cleans to glorious edge-of-breakup compression and articulate valve crunch.

On the left, Amp One delivers a tighter, upper-mid focused, British voiced crunch, characterised by lower headroom compared to Amp Two, which produces looser, slightly mid-scooped bell tones with higher headroom, a sound for which classic American tube amps have become widely sought after. With a 12AX7-driven preamp section, two 6V6 power tubes, and a 5AR4 rectifier tube, this is an amp for those seeking unparalleled versatility from a true valve amp.

For the best of both worlds, run an ABY pedal into both sides of the TwoTone to blend Amp One and Amp Two for the perfect middle ground between both voicings. Experimenting with effects after your ABY pedal delivers endless blending possibilities, from mixing in chorus and delay to blending your favourite drive pedals through either side of the TwoTone.

After all, why would you use an amp modeller when you can get all the analog sounds on which amp models are based, in one timeless combo?

Channel Sounds

Plug into Amp Two and add some reverb to taste for classic American cleans, or give it a little more juice through Amp One for beefy, dynamic British valve crunch goodness!

If you're the kind of player who thinks pedals belong on a bicycle, you'll find all the classic amp gain sounds you need from Amp One. Dime the channel volume and adjust the master volume to taste for sizzling, articulate, mid-focussed gain reminiscent of myriad legendary classic rock records.

We've designed Amp Two with extra headroom, which allows for ultra-loud, glassy cleans before breakup - but don't be fooled - giving Amp Two a little more volume delivers everything from bright edge-of-breakup goodness, to classic American crunch, with a tighter bass response and slight mid-scoop when compared to the British bark of Amp One.

Master Tremolo & Reverb

The tube driven optical tremolo circuit on the TwoTone is an improvement on vintage designs, with a more musical range of tremolo speed across the range of adjustment

Powered by one of four 12AX7 tubes, this style of tremolo can sound more like a pulsating tremolo, a sound many players find more pleasing than bias types. Optimised with a slower speed, this tremolo remains usable across the entire sweep of the knob. Alongside the tremolo circuit, a true spring reverb tank, driven by a 12AT7 and 12AX7 tube, delivers ultra-lush vintage reverb sounds to both channels.

We've tweaked the reverb on this one to ensure a much more usable wet/dry range. Where many valve amplifiers equipped with spring reverb tanks go from subtle to overpowering with a slight bump of the knob, we've dialled in the reverb on the TwoTone to increase more naturally across the range of the knob.

This means that if you're after a subtle effect, you'll find the sweet spot much more easily. If lush, ultra-wet ambient reverb is more your style, never fear... there's plenty on tap - just turn the knob a little more than you normally might. Both effects are switchable with the included dual-button footswitch.

Negative Feedback Defeat

Some of the most famous vintage British amplifiers were made with no negative feedback, meaning the TwoTone truly covers every classic vintage tube tone.

We've also included a Negative Feedback Defeat (NFD) switch, a feature that makes the TwoTone even more versatile.  Activating the switch provides more raw tube tone, with increased responsiveness to pick attack and guitar volume, a "bell-like" or "chimey" quality, and earlier distortion at lower volumes. In contrast, when negative feedback is engaged, it provides a cleaner, more controlled sound with a flattened frequency response and less distortion. This switch can be used with either Amp One or Amp Two.

Jensen Speaker

Vintage tone with modern power handling and dynamics are the key virtues of the C12K.

Fitted with an Italian Jensen C12K Speaker, we've spared no expense in equipping the TwoTone with the highest quality components. While not strictly a vintage reissue, the C12K is the first design that Jensen developed in the early ‘90s. It is tonally inspired by the classic vintage ceramic Jensen, but with a substantially stronger voice, full bass and smooth top end.

The TwoTone sounds incredible and looks just as superb, with a brown leather handle, beige grille cloth, and classic cream chicken-head control knobs, giving this one a unique vintage-inspired look that's right at home beside the rest of your tube amp collection.

With the kind of versatility uncommon in classic tube amplifiers, superior all-analog components that rival those of some of the most expensive amps on the market, and two channels of all-tube, tactile, vintage tone, the TwoTone is the ultimate player's valve amplifier. After all, there's a reason the digital modellers keep reinventing the classics...
