Artist Indominus8 Black 8 String Electric Guitar w/ Humbuckers
Tune even lower with the Artist Indominus8. This is the perfect 8 String guitar to take you on that journey into the world of super low-tuned Metal, and Djent.
The Indominus8 combines a cool gloss-black basswood body with a maple bolt-on neck. The chrome hard-tail string-through bridge ensures that the instrument has the great sustaining capabilities so necessary in achieving that "metal wail". As should be the case, the controls are simple and effective, 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3-way Toggle selector. The guitar is fitted with 10-74 gauge strings.
With moderate to high output passive ceramic humbuckers installed in soap-bar mounts, this guitar has a tight low end, allowing for that familiar lower-mid growl that you should hear in any quality 8-string on the market.
It should be noted that this guitar is a newer, upgraded version of the original Indominus8 and now sports better hardware that includes upgraded machine heads and, importantly, conductive paint in the control cavity.
The Artist Indominous8 definitely has some serious hardcore mojo and could be your springboard into heavy metal nirvana. Why not check it out - chances are you won't be sorry.
This guitar has standard tuning posts. In the unlikely event that your strings are too thick for the post holes (if you enjoy playing with heavy-gauge strings), you might need to drill out the post holes and bevel (smooth) the entry and exit of the holes so that there are no sharp edges to break the strings.

Purchases with Artist Guitars come with a 3-year Warranty. Warranty is only valid to the original purchaser and in the original country of purchase. Please take note of your order number to help us verify your purchase in the event of a warranty claim.
If the issue can be fixed by replacing a part, we will send it to you free of charge. Spare parts are shipped from our office in Sydney, Australia. If more extensive work is required our Customer Happiness department will arrange a free return slip or courier collection to get your item returned for further assessment.

If you're not completely satisfied with the quality of any of our products, we'll be happy to arrange a free return of your product for an exchange or full refund, including any shipping charges. This also covers instances where you may have bought the wrong size or if you simply change your mind.

Surprisingly Powerful and Playable 8-String!
I’m genuinely impressed with the Artist Indominus8. For the price, I wasn’t expecting it to feel this solid or sound this good. The build quality is excellent — the finish looks sleek and professional, the neck feels smooth and fast, and the setup was spot-on right out of the box. The humbuckers sound tight and articulate, especially on the low strings. They handle high-gain tones beautifully but also clean up nicely for more ambient or melodic playing. The tuning stability is great, and the extended range makes it easy to dive into heavy riffs or experiment with new textures. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and the fretwork is surprisingly refined for this price range. Overall, the Indominus8 feels like a much more expensive instrument and has quickly become a key part of my writing and recording setup. Awesome Starter Guitar for the Downtuned World of
This is a great guitar! I haven't played 8 string guitars before, and recently became super eager to try one out to expand my playing and experiment with low tunings and fancy extended chords. The Indominus is an awesome wallet-friendly way to experience all that and have heaps of fun! The strings and their specific gauge feel good to play and can handle low tunings like drop E and F# without too much rattle and floppiness, the tone and volume knobs feel sturdy, the pickup switch allows you to get wiry bright and dark tones, and the overall guitar is lighter than it looks! The pickups sound great and bring out a good amount of clarity when playing full lush chords with all strings or basic power chords. This is the first guitar I've ordered from Artist Guitars, and I'm impressed! I will definitely consider purchasing another one in the future.

Awesome guitar
This is the first 8 string guitar I've had and it's so great to play. Action and intonation out of the box are incredible. The biggest complaint I have is that the high pitch strings are much louder than the lower ones, although I'm not sure if that's a problem with the pickups, strings, or something else. But yeah this is probably one of the best value guitars full stop. I'll definitely consider buying from Artist Guitars in the future.

Perfect Budget 8 String
Here is my honest review of the Artist Indominus 8. Initially I thought the neck was going to be low-quality and chafe, but its quality is no less than my Jackson JS-12 and other guitars, which have caused no chafe to my fingers. The neck is also nice and flat to accommodate the width of having those extra strings and playing on the low-low E is no issue. It does all the intended things for an eight string, it does massive sweeps, thumping, slapping, chugs and has quite a remarkable clean sound. The guitar itself is issueless with tone and could only be nit-picked by tone-heads of the guitar world; if you play well, it plays well. My only critique for this guitar is the limitation towards playing on the 24th fret. It is no doubt possible to play and tap the 24th fret, but riffs such as the CAFO sweep and other 24th fret pinky legatos and pull offs -- generally anything that occurs in the 23-24 fret area -- are a little harder to play because the body joins in quite far up the neck, which cramps up your hand. Additionally, the stock strings are especially stiff in standard EBEADGBE and make it harder to tap and hammer on. However, they work nonetheless and can be switched out at any time. This is no doubt a great and overall issueless guitar, especially at 299! Five stars.

WHAT an absolute BEAST!
I've never owned an 8 or 7 string before, so I didn't want to spend a fortune to realize it's not for me.... This guitar...!!! WOW!!! I still can't wrap my head around how Artist have managed to produce an effectively,, Flawless instrument for this price.. Build, frets, neck etc. excellent. All I did was change strings from 10's to 9's.. NOW! the cons.. Pick-ups not as nicely mid ranged balanced as better brands,, BUT!! they work and are actually really good sound and output wise. The machine heads aren't locking which would be better to aid tuning stability, but they are still solidly built; so with a carefully selected string gauge, amount of winding and stretch and intonation adjustment. Tuning still good.. THE ONLY BUG FOR ME.. the cut aways, especially the treble side, really restrict access to the higher frets.. if they we're more like their 7string Spiritus? This guitar would be in my humble opinion.. PERFECT!! I don't say this lightly,and I know perfection is an illusion and highly speculative, but if you want an affordable quality entry with truly outstanding customer service, 100 day no fuss money return, There is NO BETTER, than this.. I've been stung by other companies with similar offers and I cannot praise Artist guitars enough..

Fantastic for the price
This thing, was only three hundred dollars. The controls aren't the best, the toggle is flimsy, and the knobs came loose quickly. But to play, wow. It came perfectly setup with perfect intonation. It is a pleasure to play, and doesn't sound too bad. Did I mention it was three hundred dollars!?

not a bad guitar
purchased the 8 string ages ago second hand and pick it up from time to time to do a bit of composition or just stretch the fingers, it was a bit difficult to get used to at first, just like picking up that old nylon string in the music room at school. she has a fair bit of noise, but I'll get to tidying that up at a later date with an earthed bridge. I'd recommend utilising a locking nut for the input jack. volume and tone pots have pretty zero noise. weight is hefty but not so bad that it's gonna curve your spine playing weekend gigs, keeps tune pretty good and does stray out during play just like any other guitar subject to play time, weather, room, environment etc. action is pretty good through the strings, but everyone plays different. if someone was to purchase this guitar I'd recommend feeling it out first, workout what you like and what you want to change, take it to your guitar guy and get those things changed. the guitar definitely has potential for anyone who might want to make a project guitar and mod it without the guilt of tearing down a more expensive guitar or something that is seriously trashed.
