If you love the sound and versatility of the Artist AS72 but your tastes tend more toward hipster than hippie, this smoky brown burl-top beast may just be the one for you! With a stunning dark-stained burl veneer top on a bookmatched mahogany body and a matching burl pickguard, the AS78 is the brooding cousin to the psychedelic AS72 range. But the differences don't end there! With a matching headstock, ultra-durable black hardware, and high-grade brass saddles, the AS78 is right at home among the very best electric guitars we have ever produced!
Sharing the same quartersawn roasted maple neck as the AS72, the AS78 plays like butter, courtesy of an ultra-smooth satin nitrocellulose finish and comfortable C profile. A stunning dark rosewood fretboard matches this one's dark aesthetic, while 22 medium jumbo stainless steel frets ensure a refret won't be needed until the AS78 becomes a vintage classic itself! The 14" fingerboard radius allows for super low action and effortless bends, while glow-in-the-dark fret markers on the side of the neck map the fretboard on even the darkest of pub stages.
Having tested untold amounts of pickup options, we settled on a set of vintage output, high-end Alnico V single coils, paired with a blistering hot Alnico V bridge humbucker, truly giving you the best of both worlds! This one delivers those gorgeous chiming, edge-of-breakup tones, as well as glorious snarl and chunky riffage with equal aplomb! Every detail has been pored over - a bone nut, copper foil shielding, a wheeled string tree and locking strap buttons are among a host of features that make this your perfect modern instrument!
