Free shipping is a bit of a let down
So I have the Modric on the way and I’d review it if it would just arrive. It took around 5 days to get from Sydney to Perth, now it’s in Perth about 45 minutes away and it’s taking 11 days to travel that 45 minutes in distance. I have phoned Amarax 3 times trying to get the parcel cleared for me to pick it up. All I get told (by someone that sounds like they’re in the phillipines) is the parcel will take 24 to 48 hours to be available for pick up. It’s about 57 hours and still no notification that I can pick it up. Over the last 2 months I’ve bought 5 Artist guitars and after this most recent experience I’m done with buying anymore. I had at least 3 more guitars I had intended to buy from Artist. I should have paid for the upgraded TNT shipping, this Aramex crew are total amateurs. You can only ever talk to a Filipino that are very polite but they can never ever resolve an issue.. Also I just received an Artist AT69 that is only $349 and it’s a great guitar especially for the money but there is an issue… The pickups are wired incorrectly as the middle position on the 3 way switch has the pick ups out of phase. That’s out of phase in both the stacked humbucker setting as well as the split P90 setting. Clearly whoever checked this guitar didn’t plug it in. So I’ve phoned Artist as I want to keep the guitar and if I could get a wiring diagram I’d fix it myself. As usual I just get someone who sounds Filipino and very polite but unable to resolve the issue without me sending and email and sending a video etc… I really don’t have time for chasing up this issue so I’ll just wear it but no more purchases from me.
Store OwnerHi Jamie, thank you for your review and we're sorry to hear about your experience. We certainly don't intend to pass the responsibility back to our customers, and we apologise if the process came across that way. Our goal is always to resolve issues as quickly and effectively as possible. We've sent you an email so we can rectify this for you ASAP. We are looking forward to hearing back from you soon.5 June 2026 -

WOW!
Hey everyone, Just got the guitar today and have been going over it in some detail and I can't believe the value for money!! For $470 the finish is great with no blemishes that I can find. Apart from the fact it comes with stainless steel frets, the quality of the fret work absolutely leaves the work done on my recent Epiphone purchases for dead! Really wishing I got away from that "Having to have at least the next best thing to a Gibson, strat" mentality a long time ago. The pickups sound great and it is so easy to tune(Only the G string nut slot might need a tiny adjustment) as that is the only string that goes slightly sharp when fretted at the first fret and that leads me into the only real thing that bummed me out a bit and in general it is only a small concern and easily fixed. Adjusting the intonation is an absolute breeze with the headless guitar...Had it done so quickly. The only one single drama I have is that the spring on the bottom E saddle is just a fraction to thick or I just need to trim it a tad. It is the only string I can not get pretty much perfectly intonated and it is showing on the tuner. Apart from this I give it a 9.98 out of 10 for the price tag. Also it would be handy to get the bush Think it's called a bush)size that holds the strings down at the headless attachment.
Store OwnerThanks for the incredible review! We’re absolutely stoked to hear the MODRIC is blowing you away with its value, finish, and fretwork—especially compared to more expensive alternatives! Thanks for the feedback on the setup, too. A quick trim on that bottom E saddle spring and a slight touch-up on the G nut slot should have it playing flawlessly. Welcome to the headless club!25 May 2026 -

Modric - terrific concept, beautifully made..
Firstly, this would be, I think, my fifth Artist guitar, I still have all but one of them, with that one only gone because it's been gifted to my son.. Secondly, placed the order Thursday morning, guitar arrived Friday morning - and I live in a regional area. That is normal Artist Guitars customer service for those that don't know, so props to them (again) and credit to TNT couriers as well.. OK, the guitar. I've always liked the idea of a headless, for compactness and ease of use on stage and when travelling, but the examples I had were travel guitars of dubious execution, with poor ergonomics and tuning stability. The pictures of the Modric suggested clever design, and the reviews spoke highly of the build quality and execution, this convinced me to buy. I have to say that all expectations have been met or exceeded. I usually set up my own guitars, but I'm not touching this one, it's perfect. Tuning stability was notably good for a guitar that was only just being played for the first time- the clever design of string attachments a factor here. It is super comfortable to play in various physical positions, I was laughing out loud at how easy it was to access the higher frets, compared to the same solos on my cutaway acoustic guitars.. I've always been cautious about humbuckers on middle price guitars, disliking a common propensity for muddiness, but these are real gems - it didn't take much tweaking of the widely effective controls to get some nice, clear bell like tones and right thru to some satisfying grit, even thru a budget amp that was the first one at hand.. I haven't put it thru the pedalboard yet, but I'm expecting a lot of fun, based on this limited experience.. So, I'm hopeful this might become my electric guitar to rule the others, for reasons of playability, quality of manufacture, compact comfort & sound and that it might even convince me to trim the collection.. It's gonna be a keeper, and I'm thinking about another as a spare - it's small size will make it too easy to get nicked at a gig or open mike!

Great Guitar and Great Buying Experience
I wanted to dip a toe in the headless guitar waters without breaking the bank to find out if I liked it. After ordering the guitar Artist Guitars kept me informed every step of the way right up to delivery. I received the guitar during a spate of 40C plus temperature days so I wondered if it survived the trip to Adelaide ok? It was well protected in the box with foam padding and came out looking pristine in its powder blue colour. I let it cool off inside then tried it out to see how it played. All it needed was a tune and it played and sounded great. The tuners have bearings and turn smooth with low friction and even the intonation was close to perfect. I noticed my fingers had the slightest touch of fretboard oil on them so was pleased the fretboard had been oiled. The pickups seemed pretty hot (wound) and when split played beautifully clean. There wasn't any fret buzz and the frets were all highly polished. I got my fret rocker and checked the whole fretboard and found the frets were all perfectly level. This is an experience I haven't always had on checking my more expensive purchases. This guitar is really nicely made and maybe the action was a touch high for my personal preference, but not for most, so this would be the only thing I will need to adjust. It represents the best value for money I have found in any guitar I currently own. I will definitely be checking out Artist Guitars in the future as this experience has been a breath of fresh air for both value and customer service.
Store OwnerThank you for your 5-star review! We truly appreciate your support and are glad to hear you had a great experience.29 January 2026 -

Insane Value and even better Customer Service
Good luck finding this kind of value and customer service else where. I got myself 2 just so I have one in a flat tuning on the go. I'm not even joking. I was shopping for a second fixed bridge and the first Modric was so nice I just stopped looking elsewhere. Compared to the SS87 which was already good value the SS87 does not hold up. No dirt on the SS. The Modric is just a much higher end guitar for what is really a few extra $... I'll probably play one into the ground and look after the other

Don't be like me
I received this yesterday as a birthday present and I was well pleased. Sounds great, super lightweight, feels nice to hold, and the tuning system is easy to use. But don't do what I did and think "Just to test it out, I'll put an old strap over the receivers for the strap-locks and not actually install them". WIthin half an hour, I learned a harsh lesson: Drop D, good. Drop floor, very very bad.

Great guitar, even better service
Out of the box the guitar looked great, I was not disappointed - exactly what I wanted. But I got unlucky because it was not set up and I didn't have the skills to fix it - it was back-bowed and I'm not confident with truss rods. I let Artist know and they immediately tried calling me - with an apology, with offers to talk me through adjusting it myself, and of course the return option - but I opted to take it to a local music shop (it was only a $20 fix and a convenient trip) - and without me asking for it, Artist refunded me that $20. I was amazed. This guitar is well above what $450 would buy me in a shop and so I would agree with other reviews that an equivalent guitar from a known brand would be at least three times the price. I have a $4000 guitar sat next to this one, and yes - there's a difference - but there's no way this Artist guitar feels like a cheap option. It just feels quality. They could raise the price and I would still buy one. The service is responsive, they clearly care about musicians, and this whole experience has proven to me that they are a low risk option. 100% will be buying from them again.

The Mighty Modric..
I've had this guitar for just over 2 weeks and it's a beauty.,.1st headless guitar, as has been said its easy to tune ,just have to get used to the tuners being soo close together ..Mine arrived just needing a tweak on the truss rod ,neck was slightly convex..Intonation is fine as is the action..It's great with effects from Twah ,to Chorus, phaser ,,etc the pickups are sweet as and remind me of my Epi Moderns LP ones but different in a very good way..A rich tone ,,..It's pretty good having that extra fret access too..Definitely glad I took the dive and bought one my 3rd Artist guitar ,I bought the Skyler Tiger Flame a week later and those PUs are soo different but really good too..All in all Modric is a very good guitar ,my only negative is the side dots that don't glow and are very dull ,just go back to white or black dots please guys..
Store OwnerGlad to hear you're loving the Modric! It sounds like it delivers great tones and versatility. We appreciate the feedback on the side dots, and we'll pass it on. Enjoy your guitars and happy playing!10 May 2025 -

I really love my new Modric headless guitar
After playing fingerstyle on wide neck, nylon string, classical guitars all my life, I’ve been on a journey towards progressive fusion and electric guitars. I’d landed on a Gibson 335 copy which sounded good and played well, but I just didn’t bond with it because it’s so big and heavy. I decided to try the opposite extreme and go small and minimal, hence the Modric.

What a revellation! No more aching back and clunking the headstock on mic stands. By coincidence the Modric arrived when I was laid up with an injured knee and I was able to play it while reclining on a settee with one leg up. The cut-out at the bottom fits nicely on my thigh and the guitar is so short there’s nothing to get in the way. It’s also perfect for playing in our campervan, where there isn’t much room for a bigger guitar.

The fingerboard is perfect with a nice radius, and I like the slightly larger frets than I’ve had before. Despite its amazing price there’s nothing cheap about this guitar. The frets have nicely chamfered ends and there’s nothing sharp or scratchy. The setup was great right out of the box and I tuned up and started playing. I might lower the action a little more, but there’s nothing wrong with it as it comes.
The hand wound pick-ups have a really clean, clear tone and there’s a nice range of sounds available from the coil splitting pots. Because I use a looper in performance I need a very quiet guitar with no ground noise or buzz and the Modric is clean up to high gain. The copper shielded cavity must be doing a good job. The hardware seems solid and functional and the tuners work well. Somehow, tuning a guitar by stretching the strings straight out seems to make more sense than wrapping them around a post. Anyway, the tuners are easy to use, once you get used to how close together they are, and the guitar holds its tune well.

It might be surprising to some that In over 50 years I’ve only ever played with my fingernails, but somehow this guitar inspired me to learn something new and I’ve started using a pick to get those fast progressive runs. (Don’t call it “shredding”!)
Any new guitar should bring inspiration and propel the player in new directions. The Modric has done this for me. Thanks, Artist Guitars.

A Quick Revisit
Just a quick revisit back here. After having the guitar a few months now I have to say this thing plays and sounds brilliant. If Artist made these exact specs in another colour or open pore etc…. I would buy it for sure. I am almost tempted to buy another one as a spare.

Brilliant guitar for the price!
Straight up, this guitar is amazing considering the price. Like omg. I've been playing for 20 years. I now generally use fairly high end guitars aimed towards prog/metal, fitted out with very good pickups, not naming any other brands here but you'd know them.... And this guitar honestly stands up. It plays super easy, needed a slight tune out of the box but otherwise set up very well. I might try and lower the action a bit on mine but that's just personal preference. The point is, it plays amazing straight out of the box. So props to Artist for that too. The neck is very fast, nice and flat contour, and though it isn't the thinnest neck it doesn't feel cumbersome at all. I guess due to the headless nature of the guitar. It is very comfortable to use and yeah just plays super easy. There are a few tiny things. The coil tap isn't as significant as with some other higher end pickups, but still decent. I do like that the coil tap is split between the two pots though, gives some more tonal variety. The neck pickup is quite fat sounding. But still pretty clear. That may be down to personal preference though. But the bridge pickup sounds sweet full and split so that's a plus. Other than that there's not really much else I could pick on. And again, for the price. I can't really complain at all. So this gets 5 stars for that reason. I can't give it any less.

More than happy!
I actually prefer a heavier weight in guitars. Needless to say this thing feels great to play. I had to lower the action slightly but that’s a taste thing. It’s ergonomically very comfortable to play. The humbuckers have a fairly nice character and I am quite fussy. I have purchased around 7 Artist guitars and I have always changed the bridge humbucker. The originals sound fine. With this guitar I am leaving them. It’s a shame Artist Guitars don’t make a good gig bag to fit their headless guitar range. Anyway, I would buy this guitar again if I had to. It’s solid for that price!

MODRIC Sonic Blue is a beaut
Bought this on pre-order back in February and took the delivery at the end of March -- right on schedule. It's my very first purchase from Artist Guitars and I'm surprised by the quality and the value it brought. First of all, the guitar is beautifully finished in this "sonic blue" or light cyan colour. Even the neck is painted over -- something that I thought might affect the playability but turned out not be the case at all. It's also my first headless guitar which I really appreciate the weight (or the lack of). Picking it up makes the boomer me feeling 20 years younger already. It comes with a list of high end features such as stainless fret, bone nuts, coil splitting for each individual humbuckers, etc. The guitar came ready to play however as I switched over to a lighter gauge of strings, just some minor set up is needed, which is super easy to do. Guitar also came with most tools (3 sets of allen keys), however a small phillips head screwdriver is needed to adjust individual bridge pieces. It's easy to play with great sustain, and stays in tune as well. Did I mention how light and gigable this guitar is? As of the set of "Laohao" humbuckers -- they aren't overly hot but with coil splitting they can be very versatile. For nitpicking sake, Artist Guitars might consider adding luminous inlays. I think the locking nuts are also the weak spots. However I would be kidding myself comparing it to a strandberg that's 4 or 5 times the price. For how much I've spent on this, I don't think there's a better valued headless guitar out there. Thanks Artist Guitars!

What a great headless guitar! Out of the box a very high standard - setup was great, weight is super light, great upper fret access, pickups are really good too, coil split works great, very quiet (shielded), fret finish is better than some of my high-end guitars! looking forward to gigging it.

What is a cookie
We use cookies and URL information to gather information regarding the date and time of your visit and the information for which you searched and which you viewed on the Website. “Cookies” are small pieces of information that a website sends to your computer’s hard drive while you are viewing a web site. We may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience on our Website. Persistent Cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions. Cookies may enable automatic logins when you visit in the future and may enable content customisation.
Some cookies are necessary to allow you to browse our Website, use its features, and access secure areas. The use of these cookies is essential for our Website to work.
We also use functional cookies to remember choices you’ve made or information you’ve provided, such as your username, language, or the region you are in. This allows us to tailor your website experience specifically to your preferences. For example, authentication cookies are functional cookies that are used for the duration of a session (or persistent, if you agree to the “remember me” function) to allow users to authenticate themselves on subsequent visits or to gain access to authorized content across pages. The functional cookies we use include:
• User-centric security cookies to detect authentication abuses for a limited persistent duration, like repeated failed login attempts. These cookies are set for the specific task of increasing the security of our Website.
• Multimedia content player session cookies (flash cookies) are used for the duration of a session to store technical data needed to play back video or audio content (e.g. image quality, network link speed, and buffering parameters).
• Load balancing session cookies are used for the duration of the session to identify the same server in the pool in order for the load balancer to redirect user requests appropriately.
• User interface customisation persistent cookies are used to store a user’s preference regarding a service across web pages.
We use many tools to help us improve our Website. To this end, we use reporting and analytics cookies to collect information about how you use our Website and how often. These cookies only gather information for statistical purposes and only use pseudonymous cookie identifiers that do not directly identify you. The performance cookies we use include:
• First party analytics cookies - we use these cookies to estimate the number of unique visitors, to improve our Website and to detect the most searched for words in search engines that lead to our Website. We use these cookies to learn how our Website is performing and make relevant improvements to improve your browsing experience.
• Third party analytics cookies - we also use Google Analytics and other third-party analytics providers listed below to help measure how users interact with our Website content. These cookies “remember” what our users have done on previous pages and how they’ve interacted with our Website. For more information on Google Analytics, visit Google’s information page. For instructions on how opt out of Google Analytics, see below.
Advertising cookies are used on our Website to tailor marketing to you and your interests and provide you with a more personalized service in the future. These cookies remember that you visited our Website and we may share this information with third-parties, such as advertisers. Although these cookies can track your device’s visits to our Website and other sites, they typically cannot personally identify you. Without these cookies, the advertisements that you see may be less relevant and interesting to you. Read more about how companies use cookies to conduct targeted or retargeted advertising here.
Social and Content cookies are placed by many social media plugins (for example the Facebook ’like’ button), and other tools meant to provide or improve the content on a website (for example services that allow the playing of video files, or that create comments sections). We integrate these modules into our Website to improve the experience of browsing and interacting with our Website. Please note that some of these third party services place cookies that are also used for things like behavioural advertising, analytics, and/or market research.
We also use third party vendor re-marketing tracking cookies, including:
• the Google Adwords tracking cookie;
• the Facebook Pixel; and
• SmartrMail tracking cookie.
You can opt out of Google's use of cookies or device identifiers by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you may visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page or control the use of device identifiers by using your device’s settings.
Third parties, including Google may use cookies, web beacons, and other storage technologies to collect or receive information from the Service and elsewhere on the internet and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads. You can opt out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting using aboutads.info/choices
Many of the third party advertising and other tracking services listed above offer you the opportunity to opt out of their tracking systems. You can read more about the information they collect and how to opt out through the privacy policy links listed above.
To opt out of these communications please visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt out page.
How long will cookies remain on my computer or mobile device?
The length of time that a cookie remains on your computer or mobile device depends on whether it is a “persistent” or “session” cookie. Session cookies last until you stop browsing and persistent cookies last until they expire or are deleted. Most of the cookies we use are persistent and will expire between 30 minutes and two years from the date they are downloaded to your device.
How do I control cookies?
You can control and manage cookies in various ways. Please keep in mind that removing or blocking cookies can negatively impact your user experience and parts of our Website may no longer be fully accessible.
Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can choose whether or not to accept cookies through your browser controls, often found in your browser’s “Tools” or “Preferences” menu. For more information on how to modify your browser settings or how to block, manage or filter cookies can be found in your browser’s help file or through such sites as: www.allaboutcookies.org.
Many of the third party advertising and other tracking services listed above offer you the opportunity to opt out of their tracking systems. You can read more about the information they collect and how to opt out through the privacy policy links listed above.
