Teaches at various venues in the city area such as AIM-Surry Hills, Fiveways Music Studios- Paddington, Classical Guitar Tuition- Darlinghurst.

Grant Sambells - Biography

Grant Sambells was born in Sydney, Australia. His musical studies began at the age of 6 when he started learning the piano at the Central Coast Conservatorium (C. C. C). At the age of 9 he switched to learning the guitar. In 2003 he was given a scholarship at the C. C. C where he was receiving classical and jazz lessons from Don Andrews. Grant started his studies at AIM in 2002 where he undertook an Audio Diploma and graduated in 2004. He then later completed an Honours degree majoring in classical guitar, in which he graduated in the first class ranking. He started a Masters Degree on scholarship in 2007 and graduated in 2008. During this time he received lessons from Dr Peter Calvo who was taught by Len Williams, the father and teacher of the famous guitarist John Williams. Grant has given numerous concerts at prestigious venues such as the Sydney Opera House, many Art Gallery of New South Wales recitals including the opening of the Rupert Bunny exhibition presented by Baz Luhrmann. Grant has been requested to perform for various other purposes around the state such as weddings and has performed on cruise ships. Ensemble wise Grant has performed/ collaborated with musicians such as Robert Harris, Clair Wenborn, Patrick Murphy and Philip Johnston. Currently Grant teaches classical guitar and ensemble at AIM to aspiring students in the tertiary education department as well as Young and Open AIM. Also he runs his own business by contracting with other music teaching businesses such as Fiveways Music Studios Paddington and Dance2music Parramatta.
