About this Xvive Tube Squasher Pedal

This pedal is a FET-based overdrive circuitry allows the Tube Squasher to realistically emulate the smooth overdrive characteristics of a good vacuum tube amp. The playing dynamics are tube-like in tone and feel. The Tube Squasher is a very powerful tone-shaping tool and a internal supply voltage step-up allows more dynamic range and headroom with tight bass tones. It is a low to medium gain overdrive.

Tube Squasher - quality build and rich overdriven

By: Neil on 13 March 2020
This pedal was designed by Thomas Blug (along with several others) and I believe the Chinese company Xvive built them for him - thus the lower cost. They did a great job. The quality of the pedal is 1st class - great build, good pots, high quality metal knobs. But the sound is really what matters. Not as harsh as a tube screamer, the Tube Squasher adds a more transparent tonal depth to my Strats that other overdrives don't and works really well stacked with other pedals (like a Rat, or a TS). One of the my best pedal purchases for sure. Have a listen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCjRlH4laKg

Great pedal. Wasn't sure how would work with my acoustic. But I needn't have worried fantastic

Great low drive pedal.

By: Ross on 18 December 2016
Personally I have not used a real Tubescreamer, but this seems like a better alternative. Quite versatile, subtle, and noticeable all in one. It maintains tone and definition, and doesn't lose any low end, unless you use the low cut switch. It can be used to fatten up a driven sound, boost a lead tone, or drive that bit of extra gain on other pedals. It stacks with other overdrive and distortion pedals well, and also works great on a bass to add a bit of fuzz, or use the low cut and add level to push into the mixes mid range. This pedal can be subtle enough to shape your tone, and just wild enough to change it as well. It came with velcro strip to attach to a pedal board, however leading to my only gripe, it did not come with any form of rubber base/feet for the bottom. It is sitting on the rough finish powder coating and the sticker on the base, makes it slippery. It will motivate me to build a pedal board I guess. If it had rubber feet/base like two other Xvive pedals I have. I can't take a star off it for this. 5 stars, great value, just be aware it has no rubber base/feet.
