Pickups in Artist Guitars

We use a variety of pickups in our different styles of guitars, and we have a large range of tonal options in our line-up! This page will help you with technical information and specifications on the different pickups we use in each model, and can help if you wanted to change pickups or wanted more information about what is installed in your guitar.

Keep in mind that every pickup will vary very slightly, and the output readings listed here are approximations only. We have more information about the various styles of pickups and their different applications in these helpful blog posts:

Artist Bullbucker Pickups

Our ever-popular Bullbuckers are suitable for anything from jazz to heavy rock! These are high-output humbucking pickups, with exceptional chordal clarity. They are available separately in various colours and with different covers in our store, and all include 5-wire coil-splitting wiring. Artist brand pickups use 50/52mm string spacing. Artist Wrangler Single Coil Pickups

These vintage-style single coils use AlNiCo V rods and include staggered pole-peices to produce a clear and warm tone with glassy highs and upper mids, reminiscent of the 1960s. Artist brand pickups use 50/52mm string spacing.

Artist Twangler Single Coil Pickups

These are high-output single coil pickups that are very reactive to your attack and volume control. They can bite on the bridge, and have a stunning warmth and clarity on the neck, with a broad tonal pallet with a variety of sounds achievable using the tone control. Artist brand pickups use 50/52mm string spacing.

ATV1 Single Coil Pickups

These 50's Vintage-Style single coils provide the classic twang you would expect from this style of guitar, with a lower output and vintage warmth.

Wilkinson MWCHB "Hot" Humbucker Pickups

These brilliant ceramic pickups will give you bright and clear clean tones, full overdriven sounds, and great sustain.

Used in: AP1 Guitars

These are "Vintage voiced" single-coil pickups with classic staggered polepieces.

Wilkinson WOHHB Humbucker Pickups

This Wilkinson hot ceramic magnet humbucking pickup delivers aggressive, punchy tones that love to be pushed into overdrive! With a beefed-up 14K bridge position you will pull off scorching leads with amazing harmonic response - ideal for the harder rock genre.

M-90 P90 Pickups

This is a traditional soap bar P90 pickup, with high output and a fat tone. With classic cream pickup covers this pickup provides a throaty tone like a humbucker, with the bite and grit of a hot single coil.

DE-10 P90 Pickup

A classic Dog-Ear style P90 pickup, these provide a high output and rounded, gritty tone that will cut through any mix.

Stacked P90 Pickups

Similar to the P90s in our Grungemaster, these are two P90s stacked on top of one-another, providing additional output and unique tones! Beefier sounding than the traditional P90 but with the same footprint, these give you the option to use just one or both stacked coils for even more versatility.

PHS Humbucker Pickup

This humbucker is warm and rich in the neck position, while bringing out more aggression and higher output in the bridge with a full midrange tone. These pickups have a great natural sustain, handle distortion really well, and provide a smooth overdrive without sounding thin.

HE-P Active Pickups

These active pickups are designed for high-output, and they're suitable for heavier styles of music. The clarity on this pickup under heavy distortion is amazing, and they can drive your amp whilst retaining a broad and transparent tone.

VLPA Humbucker Pickups

These vintage-style spec humbucker pickups are vacuum wax-potted before assembling the metal casing & pickup, and then completely wax-potted again after assembly. These are similar to our Bullbuckers, but with a lower output for a more vintage tone.

This is a hot humbucker pickup with high output for a modern tone. We use this on our EB2, a single-pickup rock and roll machine!

Ninghong HA-01 Strat-Style Pickups

This is a classic but simple single coil, with low-moderate output this is a great pickup for the beginner as the tone is easy to control, and not unwieldy or likely to feedback etc.

Ninghong PE-02 LP Humbucker Pickup

This is a humbucker that's just a little hotter than vintage. It will produce warm tones that sound great overdriven, and sits perfectly at the ideal edge-of-breakup tone in the mix.

This is a single coil pickup with moderate output, we use this on our more modern-sounding guitars for its versatility, it sound just the way it should in conjunction with the hotter PA03 Humbucker!
