What service!
Received my mandolin in record time. Out of the box, the instrument looked to be well finished. Strings also looked ok. Sounds and plays ok. Hoping a pro setup really makes a difference. Overall so far for the price it seems good value. Under $300 with a case is pretty amazing. Not my first purchase from Artist and once again the service is brilliant

Decent little Mandolin
A decent mandolin with some work. Doesn't play great out of the box ans I needed to level the frets to get a decent playing action. Once I sorted the instrument, it sounds good and performs well. The pickup isnt great, but its better than nothing. I still rather mic it up on stage than use it though
Store OwnerThanks for the honest feedback! We’re glad to hear the mandolin delivers good sound once set up, even if it needed a bit of fret work. Noted on the pickup. Miking it up on stage sounds like a solid choice.15 March 2026 -

What an awesome instrument !
As a bass / keys player I had never thought of picking up a Mandolin. I was lent beautiful hand built one by a partner in musical crime, with a "here give this a go" smile. After 2 weeks of noodling I was hooked and had to buy my own mandolin. I ordered the Artist guitars A style mandolin with a pickup. The instrument that arrived required a tiny one minute adjustment to the bridge height (adjuster wheels work well) and a tune ( tuners are great) . I checked the intonation across the fretboard against a chromatic tuner - spot on!! The tone bright and pleasant... although swapping strings for some phosphors should give the lower strings (G&D) a bit of warmth . The pickup and electrics produce a good amplified signal. I bonded with mandolin very quickly, and within one week confidently played it at a gig. ... Also ... The case, excellent quality and the instrument fits well. Honestly.. what's not to like about this mandolin.? It is just so .. seriously playable!! Well done Artist (PS I never fill in reviews.. but this mandolin deserves it ... Unless you want to play the bagpipes or something.. :-)

How do they do it for the money?!?
Mandolin is not my main instrument. In my band (contemporary large church worship group), I play 5-string bass about 70% of the time, 4-string (acoustic) bass about 15%. and guitar about 15%, so there’s not much room these days for other instruments. I used to own two Fender Mandostrats (an 8-string and a 4-string), but sold those to fund yet another bass(!), so haven’t played mando for a while. However, while browsing the Artist Guitars website (which I do regularly), I noticed this MDA100EQ+C Electric and, at the price (particularly with a hard case included!), I immediately decided it was time for a mando reprise. ….. UNBOXING: Adequately protected in a cardboard box, so the courier didn’t manage to break anything. (Of course, the mando was inside its hard case anyway, so doubly protected.) Came with a spare lead, an Allen key for neck adjustment, and a couple of picks to add to my collection of hundreds thereof. :-)….. BUILD: Typical of AG quality — even at an inexpensive price point, they still manage to deliver a decent product. The overall finish is good, there are no sharp fret ends, and the electronics work fine. I initially went looking for the battery case, but then rapidly realised there isn’t one — obviously a piezo pickup(?).….. The hard case is very serviceable — the sort you’d typically pay the best part of $100 for by itself — even my wife commented, “What a nice case!”. ….. SET-UP: The action and intonation as delivered were good. The action was surprisingly low — in fact, although I’d planned to immediately swap in a set of D’Addario EJ62s which, at a 10-34 gauge, are somewhat lighter than the 11-40s fitted at the factory, I’ve deferred that for the moment, because this is really quite a playable instrument, straight out of the box.. ….. SOUND: Typical “mando sound”, if I can use that phrase. The on-board Volume and Tone controls provide some scope for adjustment, although the Tone knob, to be frank, doesn’t do a whole lot. However, I also use a Boss EQ-200 10-band EQ pedal on my pedalboard, which allows for a wider range of tweaking. Playing through a Fishman Loudbox 120 Acoustic amp, I’m able to dial in the sound I want. (I’m mainly a strummer — no fancy stuff!) ….. OTHER POINTS: The “teardop” shape makes it kinda difficult to play this mando with it just sitting on your lap/knee — whether sitting or standing, you’re probably gonna need a strap! ….. OVERALL: I was happy to order this mando, sight unseen (and unheard), because of the many good experiences I’ve had with AG over the past 12 years. Yet again, they’ve delivered a great-value unit. Is this the world’s best mando? Of course not. But for the money, and the quality finish, it’s hard to go past this deal.

Delighted with this mandolin. Excellent item in solid case. For what I want ( mostly a display piece) it is perfect. Superb value for money!! Will I ever learn to play it? NO. But as I say, it looks smart and I can certainly impress the neighbours.
Store OwnerThanks so much for sharing your feedback and review. We look forward to your next purchase.24 February 2025 -
