Joyo R20 Revolution Series King of Kings Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal

The Joyo R20 King of Kings is a classic, vintage-style overdrive pedal. Part of Joyo's Revolution series, the vintage circuitry adopts a 1+1 dual-channel design. This allows the two channels to be used independently, or in series. When used in series, you'll be able to get fierce crunchy overdrive and vintage distortion tones.

Each channel features an independent diode clipping circuit and feedback switch. This will allow you to get subtle nuances to your tone. Each channel offers adjustable volume, gain and tone control, allowing you to really dial in the precise tone you're looking for.

(Power supply not included)

Absurdly Versatile

There's a whole lot going on here. This pedal gets you from "is this even a drive" to way down the path of a seriously-grunty distortion. Maybe even beyond if you use it to push other pedals or the front of an amp that likes a bit of extra push. With multiple clipping modes available on both sides of the pedal, there's a lot you can get done with this gem. For me, most importantly, with the clipping modes off and just letting it do its thing, and the tone knobs at about 2pm, it passes the guitar tone on all of my axes like it wasn't even there. Not nerdy enough to know the architecture, but to me, it sounds like it mixes clean input signal back into the driven tone on the output - which I love for clarity.

Its Good.

The A side functions closer to a light boost with the B side acting more like a neutral overdrive. something similar to a blues breaker. It is a great pedal. not a great pedal for its price just a great pedal. it stands toe to toe with any overdrive pedal out there and i would not swap it for tone. However. the quality control has some quirks. pressing on the foot switch will sometime slightly spin in the housing and will not let you switch off or on. simple fix is just twist the foot switch until it works again. the style and aesthetic is on par with any other mid range pedal. definitely worth trying on your board.

This pedal, whilst initially quite subtle in its nuances, has an exceptional amount of flexibility and functionality. It's extremely transparent in tone and lets your instrument do its thing without coloring the tone. My only issues are a slight pop when using the footswitch & that it is also surprisingly low gain - however drives a tube amp into total bliss. If you have a solid-state amp this is perhaps not the pedal for you, however with a tube amp & performance volume, it is an absolute beast. Has not replaced any of my other OD pedals, nor become my primary OD, but become an essential addition to the pedal board.
