Product Description

Artist PlexDLX 25 Watt All‑Valve Tube Combo Amp w/ Spring Reverb & Optical Tremolo

The above image is a mock-up that will be replaced with actual images as soon as possible.

Inspired by the legendary British and American amplifiers of a bygone era, the Artist PlexDLX delivers the finest in vintage guitar tone from both sides of the Atlantic.

With two all-valve channels equipped with high/low inputs, the British circuit on the left delivers a tighter, upper-mid focused crunch, characterised by lower headroom compared to the American channel, which produces looser, slightly mid-scooped bell tones with higher headroom, a sound for which classic American tube amps have become widely sought after. With a 12AX7-driven preamp section, two 6V6 power tubes, and a 5AR4 rectifier tube, this is an amp for those seeking unparalleled versatility from a true valve amp.

After all, why would you use an amp modeller when you can get all the analog sounds on which amp models are based, in one timeless combo?

Channel Sounds

Plug into the low input and add some reverb to taste for classic Smiths-era Johnny Marr jangle, or give it a little more juice for gorgeous edge of breakup American tube crunch goodness!

If you're the kind of player who thinks pedals belong on a bicycle, you'll find all the classic amp gain sounds you need from the left side of the PlexDLX. Dime the channel volume and adjust the master volume to taste for sizzling, articulate gain reminiscent of Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, et. al. Prefer a little more headroom? You'll find plenty of chime through the right-side channel!

Tremolo & Reverb

Speaking of Johnny Marr, the vintage-spec optical tremolo circuit in the PlexDLX is the very same kind heard on the Smiths' 1984 classic "How Soon Is Now".

Powered by one of four 12AX7 tubes, this style of tremolo can sound more like a pulsating tremolo, a sound many players find more pleasing than bias types. Alongside the tremolo circuit, a true spring reverb tank, driven by a 12AT7 and 12AX7 tube, delivers ultra-lush vintage reverb sounds to both channels. Both effects are switchable with the included dual-button footswitch.

Negative Feedback Defeat

Some of the most famous vintage British amplifiers were made with no negative feedback, meaning the PlexDLX truly covers every classic vintage tube tone.

We've also included a Negative Feedback Defeat (NFD) switch, a feature that makes the PlexDLX even more versatile.  Activating the switch provides more raw tube tone, with increased responsiveness to pick attack and guitar volume, a "bell-like" or "chimey" quality, and earlier distortion at lower volumes. In contrast, when negative feedback is engaged, it provides a cleaner, more controlled sound with a flattened frequency response and less distortion.

Jensen Speaker

Vintage tone with modern power handling and dynamics are the key virtues of the C12K.

Fitted with an Italian Jensen C12K Speaker, we've spared no expense in equipping the PlexDLX with the highest quality components. While not strictly a vintage reissue, the C12K is the first design that Jensen developed in the early ‘90s. It is tonally inspired by the classic vintage ceramic Jensen, but with a substantially stronger voice, full bass and smooth top end. The C12K became one of the speakers of choice for Fender®, used in a myriad of world-selling models.

With the kind of versatility uncommon on classic tube amplifiers, superior, all-analog components that rival some of the most expensive amps on the market, and two channels of all-tube, tactile, vintage tone, the PlexDLX is the ultimate player's tube amp. After all, there's a reason the digital modellers keep reinventing the classics...
