Artist Limba Natural Electric Guitar w/ Humbucker Pickups & Padded Bag

With an ultra-sleek, contoured body constructed from stunning black limba, the all-new Artist Limba is a glossy head turner with the specs to match its jaw-dropping design. A light-roasted maple neck topped with a 22-fret, 9.5" radius Bolivian rosewood fretboard is just the tip of the iceberg... we've gone all out to make this guitar one of our absolute finest models yet. From the wenge wood knobs and back plate, to a matching set of humbuckers that are jaw-droppingly good, the Limba comes bounding into our range, and straight into the conversation as one among our best electric guitars.

We've fitted the Limba with a matte black two-point tremolo, with a stainless steel block and saddles that yield unparalleled tuning stability, further enhanced by the inclusion of a 42mm bone nut and a set of premium locking tuners, with a new design that has been tweaked for optimal performance. Equipped with a set of Noiseless YHL Mercury Alnico V humbuckers, super 5-way switching puts a vast tonal palette at your fingertips, delivering the lively, organic response that handwound pickups are known for, thanks to the Fine Structure Scattering Wound (FSSW) technology that the YHL team has spent years refining. This winding approach offers handwound character with machine consistency, along with a frequency response curve once achievable only with careful studio EQ.

Each Artist Limba comes complete with a road-ready padded gig bag, perfect for transport from the practice space to the stage, and beyond. If that wasn't enough, we've also thrown in a set of strap-locks to help you keep this vintage-inspired classic in pristine condition, show after show, night after night.

Extremely well made and versatile guitar

I bought this guitar on impulse, not knowing what to expect. It's my first from Artist Guitars. First impressions: All the materials feel like excellent quality and it's obviously a very well-constructed and fine looking instrument! The neck is beautifully smooth with a nice satin-y feel, and the fingerboard and fretwork are smooth and flawless. Playability is great! I'm used to playing with slinky 9 gauge strings on guitars with this scale length, and I thought the 10s might feel a little stiff, but they don't. It's very easy and smooth to play. Setup was fine out of the box. As for sound, here's where it gets a bit more complex. As always, these things are personal and subjective. I have not had time to get used to this guitar's particular voice yet, but here are a few early impressions. The marketing blurb describes the pickups as "jaw-droppingly good". I wouldn't quite go that far :). There's nothing wrong with them, but I'm not quite sure where this guitar is trying to place itself in terms of sound. It's not as clear and chimey as a good Strat, not as creamy or beefy as a Les Paul, not as searing as an Ibanez RG. None of that is surprising for a guitar in this price range. But even comparing it to some guitars in this price range -- eg. a Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster or a comparably priced Ibanez RG with stock Quantum humbuckers, those guitars have a particular character and they do it well. This one, I'm not sure what it's trying to be. Depending on your perspective, that's either an advantage or a disadvantage. (Edit: The more I play it, the more impressed I am with both the sound and playability). I guess there are pros and cons of not being the type of guitar that has decades of history and many great players associated with it. It doesn't sound like anything in particular. It doesn't force or coax you into a particular style of playing. But it doesn't prevent you either. I think this would be an excellent guitar for someone who isn't aiming for any particular sound and wants to develop their own. It seems expressive enough to allow that. But if you want a specific sound, there are other instruments in this price range that maybe do it better. This is not a criticism of this guitar, just a personal observation based on my preferences and influences. The bottom line for me is that we're so lucky these days to have such a range of affordable instruments of high quality. The materials and the attention to detail on this one are far better than most (or any?) guitar at a similar price, so much respect to the manufacturers! Bearing in mind the above ambiguity about sound and character, I think it's a really good guitar overall.
