Artist HG500CEQ Solid Cedar Top Classical Guitar with EQ

The Solid Cedar top gives the HG500CEQ a certain warmth that carries through the bottom end to help your tone project, and despite its smaller sound hole this guitar is loud and expressive. The back and sides are a beautiful Laminated Walnut with a very eye-catching grain, which looks great in conjunction with the Cedar top. The stunning Sapele detailing on the rear of the body and down the centre of the headstock also adds a visual flare that beautifully accents the contrast between the Walnut and Cedar.

The HG500CEQ features a Laurel fretboard and bridge, providing superior tonal transfer, and an Okoume neck with a dovetail neck joint for superior sustain and improved resonance. The carved volute at the back of the headstock strengthens the guitar and ensures tuning stability, and the 2-way truss rod in the neck allows you to adjust the neck relief to your preference.

The guitar is loaded with a Presys II system by the acoustic preamp heavyweights, Fishman. Well-regarded and reliable, the Presys II affords plenty of EQ options and includes an inbuilt tuner.

As with all our solid top guitars we use a bone nut and saddle, the density of the bone providing much better tone that the softer plastic nuts used on cheaper instruments.

Note: This guitar does not have strap buttons

I know Gerade Gillet personally, and in conversation, he mentioned the quality of the Artist Guitars, one of which he personally endorses, the GG model. I thought I'd try the HG500CEQ for starters. The service was excellent, it arrived in a week, and the quality was remarkable. Gerade visited my town and he inspected and played it with a glowing review. It is superb in every way. I'll be buying the GG soon.

I`ve been looking for a classical guitar for stage and due to being blown away by the quality of a few Artist electrics I`ve played I committed and laid down the money for this beauty. It has not disappointed, in fact it well and truly lived up to the review by Peter Northcote both visually and sonically. It arrived promptly by courier 2 days after purchase online, snuggly fit in the Artist hard case that I additionally purchased (which is also a quality product), the guitar was flawless, had that intoxicating solid wood smell and was ready to play out of the case. Most classical guitars take weeks/months to settle, I have played it every day for at least and hour and it just keeps getting better, stable tuning thru the quality strings, plugged in the Fishman system does it justice and has plenty of EQ function to balance how you choose, the "phase" switch is a real bonus to ward off feedback and adds a depth to the tonal range. I`m 100% in love with this guitar, I`ve always played Yamaha classicals and this well and truly stands up to the renowned quality of that brand for a fraction of the price which is just insane!! Artist were with me every step of the way, customer service is the best I`ve come across. I can`t applaud them enough, these products are exceptional for the money and the service, I know I`ll be back for more and I highly recommend you do the same. Support an Aussie company and get the reward of an epic instrument that you`ll fall in love with.

Nice looking instrument

This is a nice looking and nice sounding instrument. Everything works well, the only downside I have seen is that there are no fret markers on the 3rd, 5th, 7th etc frets, otherwise all good

Artist Guitars Response
Thank you so much for leaving this feedback. This definitely helps us in improving our products and services. Regarding the fret markers, classical guitars mostly will not have fret markers except for entry-level ones or some makes will have them.

The best Nylon sting I have ever Played . It has such a big sound with great Volume,Sustain and Bass , plugged in or not.The Fishman Presys ll pickup is first class producing a full rhythm sound and clear treble and Bass for soloing. There was a small issue there were no dots on the side of the neck for the Third,Fifth and Tenth fret positions .Also If I might add unlike my other Artist Nylon Guitar CS100CEQ there were no Strap Pins. But over all for a Guitar of this price the quality and finish is first class.

Better than expected!

This guitar was shipped fast & arrived just a few days after I ordered it. When I opened the box my first thought was that Artist guitars sent me the wrong one. This guitar looks like an expensive one. I was really impressed as it looks stunning from the head stock to the bridge. It plays really well & it came with quality Savarez strings on it. The neck feels nice & the frets are nice & rounded so it plays well. I like the in-built tuner which works well as you just press a button & tune it so there's no need to fiddle with a separate tuner so it's a real time saver. I haven't used the in-built pre-amp yet as I dont have an amp but it came with a battery fitted which was very handy. I did buy it to play it acoustically & I'm so Impressed with the looks of this guitar I just should have bought it sooner. I'm really Impressed with it that I ended up buying a hard-case separately for it from Artist guitars as well which was a real good fit. I look forward to playing it as it sounds good as it is a solid top guitar. Artist guitars have really impressed me with this guitar I just love the look of it. So if you are thinking of buying this guitar give it a go as it looks better than the pictures show & sounds great to! Thank You Artist guitars for keeping prices affordable!
