About this Artist HG39303CEQ Classical Guitar Solid Cedar Top + Cutaway and EQ

This is one of my personal favourites. The solid cedar top gives it a really warm sound and we have added a Spanish heel. For those of you that don't know, the Spanish heel is a much more difficult way of making a guitar but it greatly improves the sustain. On standard Classical guitars they often use dowels to attach the neck and a lot of tone can be lost through this joint.

As with all our solid top guitars we use a bone nut and saddle, the hardness of the bone allows great tone and sustain, the typical plastic nuts are quite soft and have the effect of deadening the sound.

This model also comes with a Fishman Presys pre-amp/pickup with built-in tuner, so if you want to perform or record this is ideal for you.

Factory 2nd Artist HG39303CEQ Classical Guitar Sol

By: on 7 November 2024
I’m impressed with the quality of this instrument. The finish is very good and it plays pretty well. I’ve noticed some buzz and have made some adjustments to the setup and with some settling in I’m quite confident this will be one of my favourite guitars. The pickup sounds ok and relatively well balanced when EQ’d through the desk. Prompt delivery.

Very Happy

Ordered on Tuesday and arrived Friday morning. A quick tune up out of the box and good to go. I have had the guitar for about 3 weeks and still can't find the factory defect. It looks and sounds great. The neck is slightly wider and shallower than my previous guitar and it sits in the hand nicely. Put simply it is a pleasure to play.

Great guitar after a little setup work.

I've had this guitar for a couple of weeks now, and have been playing nearly every day since I received it. When it first arrived, it was a little disappointing compared with some other guitars I'd received from Artist in the past twelve months. The action out of the box seemed very high (about 4mm at the 12th fret), the guitar itself was very dusty, the fingerboard was extremely dry, the fret ends were a little sharp, and the wound strings were all so corroded they were completely black. After some new strings (D'Addario EJ-45s) arrived a few days later, I gave the guitar a basic setup: I cleaned the whole guitar, gave the fretboard a good oiling with Jim Dunlop Lemon Oil, and then a polish with some 0000 steel wool, before I restrung it. I tightened the truss rod a little once I had the strings back on, while this lowered the action a bit, it's still higher than I'm used to (although some reading this evening has informed me that a 4mm action on a classical guitar is actually recommended). After the set up, this is a lovely guitar to play. The neck is not thick like some classical guitars tend to have, and despite being flat and wider than my other acoustic guitars, the neck feels very similar. The solid cedar top gives the guitar a lovely warm tone (especially with the new strings) , and the guitar has an incredible amount of sustain. The overall finish on the guitar (after it was cleaned up) is excellent, and I can't tell why it was marked as a factory second. I've been really enjoying some solid arpeggio practice on it nearly every day, and it's perfect for the gentle fingerstyle music I prefer.

Fine guitar for the price

By: on 16 October 2019
Very happy with this guitar. Even with the old strings it arrived with, you can tell at once that this is a civilised instrument, warm, crisp and responsive with satisfying sustain and harmonics. Extremely playable with perfect string height all along the fingerboard. Plugged into my Steinberg audio interface and Cubase, it sounds very professional indeed. New strings should add some brightness to the treble range. Finish is generally excellent apart from a tiny patch of varnish that has flaked off where the top meets the bottom joint of the sides, which I can live with. Presumably occurred in transit somewhere. Not that long ago a guitar of this quality would have cost around twice this price or more, so it's a big improvement in production finesse and quality of materials for this price bracket. As they say, "a lot of bang for your buck".

Great guitar, good service and best price from Art

I bought an Artist's Cedar Top HG39303CEQ Classical Guitar recently and I am very happy with my purchase. From the moment I made an inquiry to the time I placed and paid for it, the Support Team at Artist Guitar had given me answer for every question I have. They are patient, courteous and willing to help. The guitar was packed very well and sent quickly. The product itself is a good buy with the price I paid. Artist Guitars has a very good reputation with their customers over many years and I am glad I am another of their Happy Customers. I will buy again. I wish all the staff and the owner of this company the best so they will continue to provide guitar lovers with good service and good products for many years to come. Best wishes, Mai
