Artist BM1 Grungemaster Six String Electric Bass Guitar

For the adventurous among you... a bass guitar unlike anything you've ever played! Featuring the same mid-60s offset body shape as our Grungemaster series guitars, the BM1 combines the ease of guitar playing with the low end of traditional bass guitars - vintage styling, premium specs, and six strings to bring your wildest bass lines to fruition.

The BM1 Grungemaster is set up to be tuned an octave lower than a traditional guitar. As opposed to a more 'regular' 34" scale length, the GM1 features a short, 30" scale, with an ergonomic, narrow (42mm at the nut) maple neck which will feel extremely familiar to guitarists making the switch to the rhythm section. Fresh from the box with string gauges of 84, 72, 56, 44, 34, 24 (from low to high), you won't find the "thickness" expected of traditional bass guitars; rather, melodic players a la Robert Smith and Peter Hook will appreciate the increased "cut-through" of the BM1's increased treble response and extended range.

Under the hood, three single coils provide brilliant sparkle alongside a rich low-end response. With individual on-off switches for each pickup, the BM1 also features a kill switch, in case you tend toward sounds more brutal than beachy! The vintage-style tremolo system provides ample opportunity to get even weirder - think shoegazing overdubs, surf-y, warbling solos, or ambient soundscapes!

Been after Bass Vi for awhile. Always out of my price range. Until now. This artist BM1 is well built and sounds great. Certainly fills the gap. If you need some low end love don’t hesitate. Great guitar. Cracking price.

BM1 Six String Bass

I’ve got 7 or 8 ARTIST guitars and all are excellent top grade instruments. I also own and have owned since I was 19yo SG’s, 20th Anniversary LP Custom and many many more. I used to set up every Fender sold in Victoria way back. ARTIST are incredible quality equaling any other high cost guitar - but ARTIST are affordable for us all. Buy this unique Bass 6 and start creating!

WOW I had hoped the BM1 would be crapola :just so I could whinge ), but No, Artist, (as usual) - out of the ballpark again! Stan Clarke/Mark King slappy harmonics donuts drool... I cant afford an Alembic ok?

$1,000,000 worth of Twang for $399

This is a great guitar for a vintage sound in the vein of Jet Harris or Duane Eddy. One thing to note is that unlike a Bass VI or a Jaguar, the 4th switch (the one nearest the neck on this guitar) is not a high pass filter, but a kill/stand-by switch. Apparently you can use the switch to “toggle on and off to create some interesting sounds” (I'm getting old, do kids do that these days??!?). Anyway, this is a great guitar for the price with a great sound. With some lush reverb a touch of slap-back echo and some deep tremolo, Bonnie will Come Back from Deep In The Heart Of Texas in no time.
