great kit

it's an amazing guitar for the price, you can literally just rub some boiled linseed oil into it to seal and put it together and get a guitar that is in my opinion better to play than the entry level guitars you'd get like the cheap end of the squiers (i have a cheap squier, i play these more) etc that said there's a few things i don't like about them (saying this as someone who owns 3 lol) so just putting this in as something to know. fixing these issues is probably not worth the cash it will take to do it as shipping from china on guitar necks etc is prohibitive when i'm guessing if you're buying one of these kits cost is part of the reason the fretboard is dyed black and it just kinda looks bad, i don't really get why it's dyed as literally any other wood color would probably look better. i accidentally spread some of the dye onto the neck back while i was filing/sanding back the fret wires and it looks like shit, hopeful that i can sand it out there's not a lot of care taken putting the screw holes in for the neck pocket, i doubt it will be an issue but the last one i got has like 3mm of wood between one of the screw holes and the edge of the neck, much to close to guarantee it wont break the holes for the tuners are a bit big, they should be pretty snug but they're loose af, as far as i can tell it's not a big deal though, it doesn't seem to affect the tuning/playing much the tuning pegs are the type where you put a screw on the back of the head to keep them in place, that screw hole is also too big so i just pretty much do up the pegs super tight and glue the screws in with wood glue so i can get them out if i ever want to mess around with them, they're only for show 5 stars because in my opinion you cannot buy a better guitar without spending $200 more

A very enjoyable experience that looks and sounds

Building this kit turned into a labour of love! The assembly process was straightforward, and everything fit together really well. The components are high quality, and the end result sounds fantastic! I did decide to upgrade some of the hardware to suit my personal style—switching out the standard silver hardware for gold adding locking tuners and changing the pickguard to a tortoise shell finish. This required me to re-drill a few holes, but it was a manageable task and everything still came together nicely. On the downside, there were a few dents and dings in the body when I received it. However, this actually provided a good opportunity to practice some minor repair techniques which was a fun learning experience. Overall, I'm very happy with the final guitar. It’s been a rewarding project and I’d definitely recommend this kit to others looking to build their own instrument.

Brilliant idea for a gift

Got one of these kits for Christmas from my wife and kids. I was super happy to receive it! Painted it up with a couple of coats of sealer, 5 coats of sky blue colour, and at least 8 coats of clear over the top. Looks amazing! Everything fits together very nicely, and is a very well thought out kit. Have recommended to at least 5 mates already. I'll be back to get a Telecaster when they are back in stock. Cheers!

Great project and an excellent guitar

This is the second DIY kit I have bought from Artist Guitars. The fit and finish of all the parts are excellent, and no soldering means it's an easy project to do with the kids. They love building and playing guitars now

Fantastic kit

What a great kit. Easy to assemble and it’s a good guitar when it’s done. I upgraded the pickups in mine to Artist Wranglers and I really am happy with the whole thing. This is a great way for people to learn guitars inside and out and a great way to learn about set-ups.

Great

As a complete novice at making guitars, it was easy enough to do, the online instructions were good but could do with a few more pictures. In saying that i did get it all together and after getting it all set up properly, it sounds great. I will be ordering another in the future.

Nice for a begineer but could do with a small twee

Got this for myself as a way to get an electric guitar as a beginner but also understand the works of an electric guitar. The provided e-manual took the view that the buyer is an experianced guitarist who has worked with an electric before (I never played an electric until last night) Tips around finishing the body would be wonderfull as would string lables and tips around setting the pickup heights. However.... it seems to be a quality product and I would recommend this to either an enthusiest or a beginner as it was a fun project for christmasand for a first attempt looks OK

Like a little challenge? Buy a diy guitar kit from Artist guitars. I did and after I'd sprayed the body 'baby boy blue' and given the neck a couple of coats of satin polyurethane I was well on the way to having a nice playing guitar. Another highly recommended Artist Guitars product.

My 11 y.o son saved up his money and purchased this DIY kit. He assembled the product himself, and also varnished the timber. He is so happy with it and plays it all the time. A great purchase and easy assembly.

It's average

I wanted to try and build a guitar never have before so curious. The wood felt good the body neck didn't need much sanding before painting. Main issues no manual but found one online it was missing because a guy on YouTube had one. The scratch plate didn't fit so I had to sand out more of the tone volume cavity which took time using only sand paper since I didn't think I would need a sander. Also grounding wire it has to be soldered your instructions isn't clear I seen online. Other kit builds that are plugin if they use a plugin system for the grounding. It makes so much noise you can't use it. Hank did the inspection must not checked properly
