Artist AP59GT90 Gold Top Electric Guitar w/ Howler Pickups

We've heard your feedback and given this ever-popular model a bit of a refresh! With an updated gold-coloured top that is more faithful to its vintage inspiration than our former LP59GT90, the new Artist AP59GT90 combines the best of classic aesthetics with modern versatility, making it a guitar that can do just about anything!

Featuring two stacked Artist Howler P90 Pickups, the push-pull knobs can be switched between normal P90s, and stacked, creating thick humbucker-like tones that distort beautifully! With chrome locking tuners, a Tune-O-Matic Bridge with roller saddles, and a locking stop bar tailpiece, we've equipped the AP59GT90 with the best hardware available at this price point!

The African Mahogany body is finished with a single-ply cream binding over a carved poplar cap, with a very thin basswood veneer that provides an ultra-smooth paint finish. The set neck is made of mahogany and features an eco-rosewood fretboard. The 22-fret neck is a comfortable "C" shape with trapezoid Mother of Pearl inlaid into the eco-rosewood fretboard. With the typical 24.75" scale length, you are sure to bend notes as well as any blues or rock player going around.

- Executive Summary: Other than; an action height adjustments and cracking the flimsy push pull knobs, no issues. Perfection intonation and that dreamy impossible to describe P90 vibe. Asthetically a gloriously bound, deep rich gold flecked, sculpted body with a slightly grabby high gloss poly medium D shaped neck. - Opinion: Personally prefer lightly sanded thinner C shaped. What a work of art this guitar is. A very traditional homage to the early electrification of guitars from 30's 40's and 50's. 4.95 out of 5, is a 5/5 from me. - How did I get here? I remember going into Artist Guitars about 3 years ago and sampling various models (Grungmaster and the Single Pickup Neck pick up guitars) . At that time this one stood out. I decided to let it fester and get it once I 'finally' made up my mind about it. After I bought an entry level Gretsch, a 2215 P90 in metallic mint green, with a humbucker bridge and P90 neck (and like AC/DC Angus basically only using one pick up ... the P90). I decided that I needed a guitar with a bridge P90 as well. This gold top with two splitable P90's flew into my mind ... logged onto the Artist website to find it ... not available. Facebook market place was intermittantly selling these second hand for about the same price as new - no thanks - so I waited ... and waited ... 18 months of G.A.S.! As I regularly check the website to see any new offerings I finally saw this beauty up for pre-order and thank goodness I did because the pre order sold out. Artist has this current run and I wouldn't want to some other Charlie umming and arrghing (like I did) to stay on the fence too long. I've had the guitar for about 3 months, mine weights 4.1 kg, on the lighter side, tonally brilliant and reminds me of the glory days of early electrification of guitars each time I coax a tone from it. Now I can use two P90 pick ups not just one. So the Gretsch has a pride of place amoungst my other guitars.

Great introduction to 24.75" scale length

By: on 23 August 2026
I bought this guitar to get some experience with the 24.75" scale length. (My other guitar is the Artist AS50 - 25.5 scale). I am loving how it plays. Sounds great. bending of strings is noticably easier, and the neck feel really good. Showed it to my brother who spent 5 minutes with it then wouldn't put it down. I think it is on his future shopping list too.

Artist Guitars Response
Thank you for the wonderful review, Stephen! The 24.75" scale length certainly makes string bending easy. We’re delighted to hear that you’re enjoying the playability and feel of the neck. We hope to welcome your brother to the Artist Guitars family soon as well! Happy playing!

This guitar is GLORIOUS !

I absolutely adore this guitar. It's beautifully made and finished with perfect binding, locking machine heads and soled neck. I made some very modest bridge adjustments (with the support of AI and my camera,) and could not be happier! This is a high quality, and fine instrument, and, just because it hasn't got a big-deal name on the headstock is the only thing that could detract (if that's your thing,) and is finished to a standard of instruments costing three times as much, The neck is fast and easy, it stays in tune, has a proper LP action and spacing, beautiful trapezoid inlays... The split p90's alone are with the price of admission - I'm blessed to have all of the p/u types in our family rack, but these stacked, switchable p90s are my favourite (for ref, I have active AMG's in a thunderbird, so....). Anyway, if you can put together the >$500 admission fee, and you're not put off by its appearance (it's flashy AF, and glorious,) do not hesitate in purchasing this guitar. YYOU WON"T BE DISSAPPOINTED!

Artist Guitars Response
Thank you for the incredible review, Chris! We're thrilled to hear how much you're enjoying the AP59GT90, especially the stacked switchable P90s. Enjoy rocking that glorious Gold Top.
