Artist AJ12 Vintage Green 1/2 Size Bass Guitar w/ Padded Bag

Don't let the diminutive stature of the Artist AJ12 fool you... this pint-sized pocket rocket packs some serious punch! With a 23-inch (584mm) scale length, the AJ12 is the perfect bass guitar for younger beginners, adults with smaller hands, or guitarists wanting to make a smooth transition to the rhythm section!

With a lightweight roasted poplar body, an ergonomic roasted maple neck, and a 9.5" radiused roasted maple fretboard, the AJ12 plays like butter across each of its twenty high-grade, 25% nickel frets. We've added classic black block inlays, which, along with a timeless offset body, give the AJ12 some serious 70s-style mojo. A narrow 38mm ABS nut makes this one perfect for players of all levels, particularly those with smaller hands, who will appreciate the comfortable, 21.5mm C-shape neck profile - a thickness more common to the electric guitar.

The AJ12 looks awesome, and feels incredible in the hands... but what about the sound? Despite its compact construction, the AJ12 sacrifices nothing in the tone department, with a set of ceramic pickups that deliver clarity and thickness in equal measure. Both pickups can be blended via dedicated volume knobs, while a master tone knob can be adjusted for warm jazz tones, funky slap sounds, and everything in between.

If that wasn't enough, the AJ12 comes complete with a road-ready padded gig bag, perfect for transport to school, lessons, or for the back of a van to the green room, ad infinitum!

So much value and so much fun

By: on 21 April 2026
My AJ12 just turned up. Took it to band practice tonight. I don't play bass so bought it for fun. I play guitar. This thing is amazing for the dollars. Sounds huge direct into the PA via a DI box. Scale length is 23 inches so it's shorter than any guitar I own. But that's perfect as I can play it and my fingers know where to go. The volume knobs allow a blended tone from the two pickups and the tone knob is also useful. Light as hell. Looks shit hot. And the gig bag is super thick. So much value here. Can't wait to bust it out on stage at our next gig. We have a lead bass player. I'll be rhythm bass.

Incredible

Full disclosure, I am a guitarist, not a bassist. But when I do play bass I find it much easier to play short scale and why not go even shorter. The guitar arrived today and it is packaged so well. The gig bag is super high quality and well padded with a neck cradle. The guitar was perfectly set up out of the box. The neck feel is amazing (similar to the artist guitars AT53 maple necks etc). The fretwork is good and frets are polished. I really can't fault the guitar at all. I am so impressed. I have a Kala U Bass which is basically double the price of this and I think the Artist is much better.
