Artist AT69 Sunburst Electric Guitar w/ P90 Pickups

You asked and we delivered! We're stoked to introduce the brand-new Artist AT69 to the range for 2024. Featuring a set of medium-output P90 pickups, this classy-looking semi-hollow delivers breathy blues tones that break up brilliantly when paired with a cranked tube amplifier. The C-shaped roasted maple neck, bone nut, locking tuners, and modern-style six-saddle bridge ensure the AT69 performs just as superbly as it sounds, staying perfectly in tune as you bend your heart out!

The semi-hollow construction of the AT69's mahogany body makes it a lighter alternative to a solid body. Single master and tone knobs make the AT69 elegantly simple to dial in - just strap it on, turn up your amp, and get out of the way... the AT69 will do the rest.

A good guitar that does its own thing.

By: on 8 November 2025
The guitar looks better than I expected. The bad in particular has an unexpectedly 3D quality to the wood grain that dances a bit in the light. The fretboard is very flat for this style of guitar, my Fender Tele has a super round radius, maybe 7.5' or something like that. This fretboard is flat and fast, and as such I would have preferred slightly bigger frets., I think. The specs say the neck is a C profile, but to me it feels like its leaning into a bit of a V, as there isn't much in the way of shoulder, but the middle does have some depth to it. It's good though, definitely not a problem. It's my first time using locking tuners, and they are a revelation, so much less faffing about changing strings. The tuners themselves ore OK, not super fine ratio and the high E is a bit crunchy when turning. But it does tune up and it holds pitch as well as anything else. The pickups sound great, and in regular P90 mode they have a great mid range clarity going on. When the stack is on, there is a lot more output and a lot more bass. This one doesn't hum cancel though. When the stack is on, the hum just gets louder as the output goes up. So the split, or regular mode has less hum because it has less output. I don't know if that's how they all are but I pretty sure it said there would be hum cancelling which the stacks engaged. It would be cool to have the pickups split independently as the neck pickup is a bit over powering in the loud setting. Although I have lowered the height but I haven't tested it yet. The important thing is that the guitar was able to intonate really well, as that was a worry for me as I have two other cheaper guitars that physically can't be intonated properly. No problem with this one. I changed the strings (the factory strings were corroded and one broke almost immediately), lowered the action and did the intonation, and it plays like butter. In fact it is so smooth that I wish the heel joint was contoured because I keep ending up shredding up the dusty end, and jamming the corner into my hand. The strap buttons are nice and wide so the strap stays on. The fret ends are finished ok, not amazing as there are slight barbs underneath 2 or 3 frets, but nothing that I feel when playing. Out of the box it was set for strumming, great for a singer who plays rhythm but finds a regular tele too harsh or weedy. But the flat fretboard, the big output option and the fact that it was put together properly, means there is a monster lead guitar only a few tweaks away. Overall, really nothing to complain about for $350, and the fact that it is put together properly does make modding it a viable option. I don't think I will though, it has a unique and useful voice as it is. Great for Indie, classic rock, country, blues and jazz.

Astoundingly good guitar for an impossibly low pri

By: on 16 October 2025
My AT69 is one of the most enjoyable guitars I've ever played. And it cost a fraction of any other guitar I've played and loved. That includes my 1986 Fender Strat. The AT69 came out of the box almost perfectly ready to play. Action, truss rod, pickup heights, and string heights were spot on. The intonation did need a tiny tweak but that is true of almost every guitar. The fit, finish and fixtures are superb. From the polish on the medium jumbo frets to the fret end dressing, the solid feel of the knobs and switches, all the way to he locking tuners. Speaking of switches, the splitable, stacked P90s are just so sweet. In single coil mode, they are close to the focused sound of classic fender single coils, but with that warm, dark richness P90s are famed for. Kicking in the second, humbucking coil gets a fatness that heads towards the sound the "G" brand is famed for. Some reviews I read while pondering this purchase described this as a good beginner guitar. Wrong, the AT69 is an out and out great guitar that happen to be affordable for beginners. Important to note that if I had to replace that Strat with an identical model today, it would cost the same as 5 AT69s! Unquestionably great value.

A great everyday guitar with amazing tone!

By: on 26 August 2025
I have plenty of very expensive guitars and I really just bought this one on a whim but I have to say this is a great guitar in its own right. It’s fun to play and its tone from those p90s is fantastic. I don’t ever use the split pick up function because i’m not really a fan of it, but I never wanted that function in this guitar anyway so I’m completely happy. Recommended .

A lifelong companion

By: on 22 August 2025
From the moment I picked up this Artist AT69 electric guitar, I was happy with my purchase. The price, every detail, every element of this instrument reflects the hands of a passionate and skilled craftsman. The tonal range is nothing short of exceptional. Warm, articulate lows meet crisp, shimmering highs, with a beautifully balanced midrange that cuts through any mix without overpowering. Whether clean or driven. What really sets this guitar apart is how effortlessly it plays. The neck feels like it was custom-shaped to fit my hand—smooth, fast, and endlessly comfortable. If you’re lucky enough to own one, you already know: this is more than an instrument. It’s a lifelong companion.

Believe the hype!

I was sceptical, but after so many good reviews I simply had to try an Artist guitar. I'm blown away by the quality of build, feel and sound. Makes me wonder why I ever bothered with the big name brands...thanks Artist!

Plays Perfectly Straight Out of the Box!

By: on 11 August 2025
I purchased this guitar last Monday from the warehouse, and I couldn’t be happier. Right out of the box, it played beautifully — no tweaks or action adjustments needed at all. The setup was spot-on, the neck feels smooth and comfortable, and the P90 pickups deliver a warm, punchy tone that’s perfect for blues, rock and even softer jazz tones. The sunburst finish looks stunning in person and really gives it a classic, vintage vibe. An absolute joy to play — fantastic value for the quality you get!

"Yeah"... pleasure-ville!

By: on 29 May 2025
What can I say. After a quick delivery as usual, I ended up tightning a few screws, taking off the QC sticker etc., checking action, a tune and hook up to the amp... yeah, I mean yeah! The feel and shape of the satin neck is magic, my fingers felt like they were playing on butter. The pickups are choice and pots feel solid. This thing is great, so much character with the voicings and feel overall is nothing short of quality. I'm absolutely stoked and he'll blend very nicely into the quiver, the only problem is my other buddies (i.e. guitars) might get a little jealous of my blues jam selection! Thanks Artist guitars, great service, great product, keep it up!

The AT69 Delivers!

By: on 3 March 2025
I've always wanted to try a thinline guitar. After playing this model from Artist Guitars for a few days, I've determined that it rivals my Made In Japan Telecaster. The setup was perfect right out of the box, the roasted maple neck is beautiful and allows for fast playing, the fretwork is top-notch, and the locking tuners ensure excellent stability. The stacked and splittable P-90 pickups deliver great versatility and sound fantastic for any style. Additionally, the sunburst finish is stunning. The only noticeable drawback is that it feels a bit heavy for a semi-hollow body, likely due to the mahogany construction. Overall, it's an exceptional instrument.

AT69

This is actually the second AT69 I purchased, as I was impressed with the first one, but it had an issue relating to the coil split functionality. So firstly, this is an excellent guitar for this price range. The neck is fantastic, frets all good and very easy to play. The set up when I opened the box was actually very good and near 100% perfect, which is rare for any sub $1000 guitar purchased online. I really like the sound of the pickups, clean or with distortion. Overall, very impressive for the price and I would definitely recommend it. However, once again I must say the coil split function is pretty crap! The volume drops way too much and it has a thin, weak signal when split. It's more like a strangle switch, cutting the volume and bass a lot. Aside from that, just leaving it in 'humbucker' mode, I enjoy the tone and I enjoy playing this guitar. So despite this issue, I would still recommend it and I'd say it punches well above its weight in the sub $500 price range.

AT69

I bought the black AT69 and can say it's easily the best Artist guitar that I've bought. The P90s growl and have great definition to them. The playability is fantastic, all I did was drop the string height a little, tho it would have still been fine left as is. I have a bunch of big name guitars, but feel this could end up being my #1 Top score on this great guitar.

Artist AT69

By: on 10 December 2024
My fourth Artist Guitars purchase. Along with the others, this seems pretty good value for money and competes very well with other similar priced guitars on the market. The neck felt almost identical to the Fender player tele necks, although with a flatter fretboard. A very good neck. The body and rest of the guitar doesn't have the same quality feeling, although still quite decent for the money. Everything was set up ok, but needed some slight adjustment to make it play better. The pickups sound great when clean, although the neck pickup needed lowering and the bridge pickup needed raising slightly. This guitar did come with a problem though. The coil splitting doesn't function properly. Firstly, there is a very noticeable volume drop when going into 'humbucker' mode. If anything, it should be the other way around, with a volume drop going into single coil mode, but that's not the case. The other odd issue, which is no doubt related to the first issue is that you get 60 cycle hum with in humbucker mode, but not in single coil mode. So this is obviously some sort of wiring or pot problem. For now, I'm just using it in single coil mode and aim to completely replace the wiring, tone pots and pickups. Despite this, I'm happy with the guitar. It feels great and very easy to play, so I think it's worth upgrading the electronics. Would I recommend it? Yes, because the price stacks up very well compared to other budget priced instruments and there is a good return policy. However, I would also mention that when buying any brand of budget guitar, you can expect that some parts may need to be upgraded if you plan to keep the guitar and have it play and sound as good as a higher priced instrument.

Easily on par with, and in some ways above my main

Hi all - I just wanted to write a quick review here to say that this guitar is simply incredible period, not just at this price point. I bought this guitar because I love the playing style of Japanese neo soul guitarist Toshiki Soejima who plays a Bruno TN-295 (hand-built Japanese guitar going for about $8,000 used, as at Sep 2024) which also has Telecaster Thinline body shape with neck and bridge P90 pickups. Not wanting to splash that hard on a guitar, I took a chance on this bad boy at $349 after seeing a single YouTube review from an non-sponsored purchaser (thank you Patrick Hernandez!). In the video he praised the fit an finish to no end and wow, he was on the money. The fret work and tolerances are immaculate, right up there another Japanese built guitar I have (cost $2000), and way better set up out of the box than my Player series MIM telecaster ($1800), which was delivered with a neck so far out of pocket the low E was actually off the fretboard. The neck at first felt kinda chunky to me, and the native string choice of 10s I also found a bit odd but after a setup I really took to it. The clean tones when paired with Fender Blackface and Tweed amp models are sweet and thick, and when paired with a BD-2 it was thick and clear overdrive tones. Back to the neck again - I'm bending whole bends on the 17th, 19th frets with no chokes, and no dead spots anywhere else. Just a bullet straight neck and lovely fresh, well crowned frets. There were a few odd things ofc, like one strap button wasn't dead straight, and I can tell the order of assembly based on some of the plastic shavings around the protective plastics, lol, but those are little things and overall I just can't get enough of this axe. Right up there with my other all-time favourites, for a mere $349. Thank you Artist.

This guitar will change your expectations of a $35

By: on 3 August 2024
1st of all, Artist Guitars provide excellent E-customer service and tracking of orders. Now for the guitar.... It came nicely packaged, strings / frets protected & set up to a great standard, straight out of the box. No blemishes on body or neck, frets nicely polished. Guitar looks great, all of the controls and tuners feel solid and work precisely. Neck profile, frets and satin finish are 10/10 Tones from the P90 pickups are clear & vocal with plenty of tweakability via the volume and tone pots. I would say the pickups really steal the show, along with the neck feel and frets. Having played a couple of hundred guitars and owned a good 50 at one point in the last 10 years, I can safely say this has AT69 has been the biggest most pleasant surprise. You don't have to do a thing to start playing, what is a stellar guitar. It beats the shit out of any sub-$2000 Fender for feel and gives you magic P90 tones that are truly inspiring with a good amp tone to back it up. My only gripe is the weight... the website quotes 3.3-3.5kg.... I would say this guitar is about 4kg. Great for sustain, but the only thing I could possibly complain about is the weight. I do like Strats and Teles to be in the low 3kg range. Just buy one, an absolute no brainer decision. Won't be my last Artist Guitar I'm sure

Nice Guitar

By: on 3 July 2024
Very nice feel and very solid. There were some stains at the F-hole. Also, the screw at the pickguard, near the input jack, is not tightened. I have to do it myself. QC missed it even though there is a sticker with "QC passed". With some minor flaws, guitar that works well and sounded very nice. Delivery was very fast as well.
