Artist AP58J TV Yellow Electric Guitar w/ P90 Pickup

The Artist AP58J is a premium double-cutaway guitar. If you're looking for a minimalist rock and roll dream-machine, this AP58J is the choice for you; punchy mids, beefy highs and a very cool finish!

It features a timeless TV Yellow finish over a solid African Mahogany body, with a simple black scratch plate completing this classic look. The Mahogany set neck has a high-grade Eco-Rosewood fretboard, Dot Mother of Pearl Inlays, 22 frets in a 24.75"" scale length, and a comfortable C-shape radius.

The AP54J also features a Wilkinson wrap-around bridge, with adjustable bridge posts and saddles to lock in your intonation, and the 43mm Bone nut and Chrome machine heads will keep you in tune through any Rolling Stones covers set! With a single dog-ear P90 in the bridge position, the AP58J has got some serious bite, and we have used premium-grade hardware to ensure the tone and volume controls are responsive to the touch.

With just a single Volume and Tone knob, this guitar has a surprising tonal range for those willing to experiment with their controls. Alternatively, this is the perfect guitar to just turn everything up, plug into a cranked amp, and let rip!

This comes strung from the factory with D'Addario EXL110 strings.

Pretty Darn Good For The Price

By: on 2 July 2025
After doing a setup myself, this guitar now sounds awesome with a capital A. I did send an email discussing the issues that I had and was pleasantly responded to with an apology very promptly. It seems my purchase may have slipped through a slight crack in quality control. That said, Artist would have been/were quite happy to either do a refund or swap out as per their customer satisfaction processes, but after I did a setup, the thing sounds that good that I just couldn't send her back ... flaws and all. The flaws I speak of are that it was not just a ready to play out of box deal with a lot of string buzz due to severe backbow and also a bit of a messy truss rod adjustment cavity carve with leftover glue in the mix ... again, I setup how I wanted it anyways, and as for the truss rod access cavity carve it is out of sight and out of mind IMO causing no detriment to the ability to actually correctly adjust the truss rod ... purely cosmetic. At the price point I was more than happy to deal with these issues as I saw them only as minor indiscrepencies. One more time ... with setup accomplished, the pickup, the look, the feel, the playability, all is awesome for the price and to be honest, this thing, and without mentioning other high end brand names, seriously sh!#s all over other guitars in my collection which were way more detrimental to the thickness of my wallet - in the end it's all about the tone you can produce and this guitar has it in spades. Thanks Artist Guitars ... can't wait until I have a few more spare bucks to grab the next model I have my eye on :)

Artist AP58J TV Yellow Electric Guitar TV Yellow w

While the attractive price point certainly caught my attention, it was the shape of the guitar and the honest reviews by Bob Spencer that ultimately convinced me to buy it. The first aspect that stands out is the exceptional paint finish, which beautifully complements its design. Additionally, the playability of the neck is top-notch, showcasing why this instrument is truly worthy of investment. While the factory pickup sounded great, I have a preference for a quieter performance, especially when amplified through a PA system with an overdriven sound. As such, I replaced it with a DiMarzio pickup, and the improvement was noteworthy. Right out of the box, I found the action to be perfectly set, which is another testament to the company’s attention to quality. Many people question how a company can produce such a remarkable guitar for just $279.00, but Artist has certainly proven that it is possible. If they continue to maintain this level of craftsmanship, I can foresee their guitars justifying an increase in price upwards of $1,000, especially if they were to incorporate a hum-canceling pickup. Overall, I can confidently say that I would not hesitate to purchase another Artist guitar in the future, as they truly outperform many higher-priced guitars on the market. Thank you again to Bob Spencer, for your invaluable recommendation. I appreciate your insights and honest description of this remarkable guitar.

I'm very happy with this purchase. The Artist AP58J TV Yellow Electric Guitar is a very nice guitar based on a double cut out Gibson Junior. Lovely neck and balance and the pick ups are pretty good too. The Wilkinson hardware adds to the quality of the guitar. I'm a bass player and wanted an electric guitar for some pretty dirty rhythm playing and the AP58J fits the bill for me. I also bought a hard case for it, which is very sturdy and well made - though the locks could do with an upgrade.
