Perfect amp in a pedal
By: Matt on 15 May 2023I use the American sound as an amp in a pedal for direct recording and playing at home. It does a great range of fender type tones, with so many usable sounds, cab IR built in already which makes it so simple to use. With the voice knob dialled all the way down it does a convincing twin, winding the voice knob up you hear the amp transform into a bassman type sound at around 11 o’clock. Further than that pushes it into small combo territory and more easily overdrive-able tones. The drive control interacts with the voice control so you have endless possibilities, but a great many sweet spots that you could set and forget also. Some people may enjoy the endless pursuit of CAB irs, preamps and software, but for those who would prefer to lock into something affordable, simple to use and with tones I would honestly put up against any other system at any price point then this is the one. Incredible really that this is a bunch of great amps that you could easily throw in a guitar case. What a time to be alive!

Pedals.
By: nihil on 2 May 2023A great pedal all round but one of a few that didn't quite fit what I was after. Artistguitars were very easy to deal with regarding a return and it was handled quickly. Couldn't be more grateful of the excellent policies, make the risk easier and makes buying pedals more fun, as it should be.

I'm a teenager again!
By: Allen Hopgood on 20 March 2023Having played acoustic guitar for the last 10 years or more, I decided to pick the electric backup. And needing to acquire new pedals I searched for some 'quality' pedals. But this JOYO brand kept popping up. Plus multiple times I saw this American Sound Pedal reviewed. How can something sound so good for less than $100? I thought all pedals to sound great had to be in excess of $200-$300. That's what my Hotcake overdrive cost. The JOYO American Sound Amp Simulator is great evidence that times have changed - you don't have to spend big money to get decent sound and product. This pedal is a delight to play! I wish I had more time to play around with it because it's making me feel like I'm a teenager again!

Joyo American Sound
By: Pete on 3 August 2022Very happy with this little box. I needed a preamp for putting an electric guitar through the pa for some extra grunt when doing acoustic gigs. This little gem does everything it is supposed to. Once you dial it in for the pick ups you are using it works like a treat. A little noisy if using too much drive (over half way) but with an od pedal as well this is of no consequence.

Thank you so much for your review of the pedal. We truly appreciate it.
Fantastic value for money. Viable for gigging.
By: Matt M on 17 July 2022I bought this pedal a couple of years ago wanting to see if I could fully make the move to DI at gigs, and not have to mess around with amps. I toyed around with it briefly, thought it didn't sound that great, and never used it again, just chucking it in my gig bag to use as a backup if I ever had to. Recently I've pulled it out again and spent some time really dialing it in, and wow, it really is great. I'd say it can get about 90% of a Deluxe Reverb tone. The main difference is that it's a little more compressed than the real deal, and doesn't sound quite as natural when moving from soft playing to hard playing (which is what makes a tube amp sound so good). I think the reason it works well for me is because I'm running humbuckers into it which are already quite compressed. I suspect running single coils might not yield as good results. For a good DR sound try level 4 oclock, voice 9 oclock, drive 9 oclock (or to taste), bass and treble about 3 oclock, mids about 10 oclock, with the PA EQ flat - YMMV depending on your PA speakers. The trick for high gain sounds on top of this is to use a distortion pedal (before the Joyo) which has its own 3 band EQ. Have a play around with it and push the EQ to its extreme. The Joyo will compress the signal going into it, so you might have to push the level on your distortion pedal significantly to get much of a volume boost when you kick it on. I spent 30 minutes or so finding a setup that worked for me and I am extremely happy with it, I'm now considering just going DI full time with this in live situations.

Fender Clean amp in a box
By: Adam on 28 May 2022Does the job, fender style cleans, clean breakup and light overdriven tones works running direct into interface (I would use a cab Sim on DAW if using for overdrive tones) or as a clean style preamp (last on the chain after all pedals) if you don't have a fender amp and are looking for that sound. I really enjoy it, it's a very useful tool for overdubbing or double tracking if you're looking for a different sound to layer on but don't have a lot of options.

Thank you very much for the review. We appreciate it.
Great pedal
By: Alex on 21 January 2022I've had this pedal for a bit now and it's amazing. Versatile and easy to use Gives you most if not all the old American amp sounds you just need to sit down and play with it. Recommend it to anyone

solid DI for ampless recording
By: likeithateit on 4 October 2021I'm using this as a DI into an SSL2 recording interface for indie style pop. Sounds great. A good starting point for more tonal shaping but certainly usable on its own. Definitely worth the money - better than the software solutions.

Best $69 you’ll ever spend in a music store
By: Anonymous on 7 September 2021This pedal is amazing. I’ve tried a few different pedals for plugging my electric guitars straight into a PA system. All of them were much more expensive than the JF14. None of them are as good. From clean, to just breaking up, to distortion - it does it all. The tone is great. It’s easy to dial in the sound I want. Thoroughly recommended.

Versatile pedal.
By: Hobbyist on 5 April 2021Received this pedal the day following my order. Great service. Wanted a Fenderish sound to practise after selling my Laney tube amp to a blues harp player, without all the bells and whistles of a multi effects processor . This pedal really works for me. I use it with a stereo amp and analogue chorus pedal. Knobs are quite sensitive but I can get clean through to distortion. Also works well as overdrive into clean amp. If you want to get the amp sounds without the weight and cost this can do it. After getting a Yamaha THR I have become a fan of using stereo monitors rather than combos/cabinets for practising.

Joyo American Sound Amp Sim Pedal
By: Geoff on 1 January 2021Having never been a huge user of pedals, I was somewhat surprised when I listened to the demo's of this little marvel. The demo's were done very simply, with just a little reverb added on some. I promptly placed an order, and the pedal arrived very quickly in the mail, as per usual from this company, Artist Guitars. Using several different, but very basic amps for the test, I was blown away by the range of tones available, and a simple push on the foot switch left no doubt that this pedal is a game changer. It really shows it's potential when using through an interface into a DAW. This area has long been lacking when using electric guitars to record via a computer. Now, no need to use a ''noisy'' guitar amp to get ''that tone'', it is all in this little, very well constructed pedal. You would think for the price it would be a lightly constructed case, but no, all cast metal, and a good foot switch. Well done Joyo, you have a winner here, and at a bargain price. There are other amp sim units out there, but if menus and buttons and digital sound don't excite you, for the price of a decent meal, this unit is sure to do it.
American sound fraction of the price
By: Steve lidman on 17 December 2020I struggled to get a clean to just breaking up tone for a rockabilly sound. Using this pedal playing through a fender performer 100 and using a Gretsch ratrod. You do have to play with the knobs to balance the pickups with the tone. Once you sort that out perminent markers different colours for your settings and your away easy as
American sound joyo pedal
By: Wes on 8 October 2020Awesome product. Every thing I expected from all the reviews on YouTube. Great price and service. Thanks artist guitars . Wes
Thank you Artist Guitars
By: Heath Clark on 14 September 2020when i got this pedal for fathers day one of the knobs fell off due to a crack inside the knob, it looked like there had been damage on the box during transport, as the pedal worked fine i didn't see the point of sending it back a quick call and email to Artist and the sent out a new knob, fantastic service guys thank you 10 out of 10. Now this pedal is a gem to me a tube amp in a box i love it, i'm using it like a pre-amp on my Kustom 100 solid state combo and i feel like i've got my Fender Hot Rod Deville clean sound back, add my Joyo sweet baby overdrive and it's just perfect.
Excellent value pedal
By: Craig on 5 June 2020Fantastic pedal, truly as good as all the reviews and demos claim, especially for the price. Plugged into my old Peavy Studio Pro amp, in 30 seconds had sparkling cleans, one dial twist later, beautiful overdrive tones. Runs well through PA too, for a "just in case" moment or instead of lugging an amp to rehearsals.
Joyo American Sound
By: Zac on 18 May 2020Bought this as a backup for my valve amp when playing live and for when playing in venues where a quiet stage volume is necessary (in my case, my church). The pedal is amazing! Before I even heard it it was a no brainer for the cost alone, it was the quality of the sound that blew me away. I play a Silverface Fender and this pedal gets me in the ballpark and then some- from mid ranges focussed early Fender sounds to later scooped mids 60s-70s sounds. Has quickly become an essential bit of kit.
Forgot my amp
By: Harris on 20 March 2020I have a series 1 original Sansamp. I lent it to a friend...but I have to say this is great. Ive not plugged into my amp in 4 days...just jamming to RMX spectrasonics beats for days, I have my mxr phaser ...strymon riverside with both the boost pedal and Boss Expression pedal and finally into RE 20 before the American. I can go from a clean fender tone to extreme metal in seconds. Blending the Riverside with the American is endless fun straight into Ableton. Besides my joyo pedal board the best money Ive spent in years.
JOYO JF-14 AMERICAN SOUND - GUITAR EFFECTS PEDAL
By: Ryan Stevens on 18 March 2020Amazing. Sounds great, looks great. Quick delivery at a great price. No complaints here!
Joyo JF14
By: Neil on 20 February 2020I am very happy with the JOYO JF14 pedal. It allows me to go direct to desk at venues where the sound man has fits about any on stage noise. It is good enough to fool all but the most discerning ears so it becomes a painless way to deal with the crazies at the sound desk who only care about volume and not quality of sound.
Awesome
By: Richard on 10 August 2019A $65 pedal that sounds better than the $2000 amp it replicates. I have used Fender delux reverb for years and the pedal direct into PA or keyboard amp sounds better. Also unlike the amp you can actually dial some grit Into the sound if you want it at sensible dB levels
Great Pedal
By: Clinton on 20 October 2018Probably the best $59 I've spent. Using it on the clean channel of my Boss Katana 50w and it's just great. Easy to forget your just playing through a pedal.
This one's a beaut and goes crunch to boot!
By: Anonymous on 4 December 2017If you need a modeller for tone shaping or (as I do) for direct recording, you can't go past these Joyo pedals. This one is clean and clear and gets monstrous overdriven harmonics. I ran my Epi SG through it and zeroed the dials for tone and went from there - use voice to increase midrange distortion, and drive to scream. But the tone knobs aren't there for show, you'll get great Fender Reverb amp tones from fat mids to icepick highs. Extremely happy with the product and service, Artist, well done!
gorgeous sound
By: Daniel on 10 August 2017An amp sim that actually does what it claims, as a fan of fender amps this BLEW me away. Absolutely recommended!
JOYO.American Sound amp
By: Peter Beulke on 19 July 2017The great thing.about this Pedal is its all anlogue, duplicates a valve amp, and looks so good ,it.surprises you , and for the price you carnt.and dont go wrong. I tried this pedal with bass and electric guitars ,works well, warms your sound up and there is a great.variety of sounds ,get it you wont be dissapointed,
Amp in a box
By: Matt on 19 January 2017I was after an amp simulator so I can play live direct into a mixing desk and PA. The amp I normally use (Orange Tiny Terror combo) is really punchy and hard for our techs to control in the live mix. I wanted something that would sound as close to the lovely crunch of a valve amp as possible while being tamable. This pedal does the job and then some. I can get some really usable tones out of this thing. It does a great job of sounding 'valvey' and 'American'. It actually sounds even better as a distortion pedal in front of my Tiny Terror, like some sort of American/Brit hybrid. Great tones for a great price. Would highly recommend.
great sounding pedal
By: Terry Lee Barker on 2 December 2016wasn't sure what to expect from this pedal but I was very pleasantly surprised by it when it arrived, get those nice sweet fender tweed sounds quite well, and is very transparent maintains your original guitar sound nicely it's permanently on my live board and have now just ordered the california pedal also expecting it to be just as exceptional sonically, these pedals represent very good value and are very impressive sounding.
Excellent clean tones, takes to pedals really well
By: Anonymous on 29 December 2015Excellent. If you are recording at home and want to do it in silence just get one you won't regret it. Even if you are recording and don't care how much noise you make it will still give you that beautiful warm sound that only comes from an amp. Makes lovely clean tones and takes to chorus and distortion pedal well. Low gain, Highest gain, scooped or pushed mids it loves it. It can be a bit quirky to setup your sound, like turning up the gain as the voice is turned up will increase the volume requiring you to back off the level, and the gain and voice will make noise once past about 3 o'clock but honestly the best sounds aren't up there anyway. Love it, made recording so much easier. Give a nice sound to my bass aswell. I have bought two of these now to save changing settings for guitar and bass!
Great pedal and great service
By: Anonymous on 10 November 2014This pedal is great for the price! Its Easy to dial in usable sounds for recording or in front of amp. The pedal creates sounds very similar to a certain american brand F****r, most people wont be able to tell the difference. I have bought a few Joyo pedals and they are all awesome. I've bought all my pedals through Artist Guitars, its easy, quick and you get updates about when your purchase is being dispatched. I defiantly recommend this site and will use them again in the future
Unbelievable quality
By: Anonymous on 7 May 2014Having used sooo many modellers over the years, I liked this Joyo JF14. Why? it simply works great. No fancy stuff, it just sounds great and is strongly built, true bypass (real, I tested it) and versatile. It will give you a lot of the fender amp types whether in clean, crunch, over the top... Something not so good? mmm not really. It's a great product, and I say this not because of its price, IT IS A GREAT PRODUCT regardless of its price tag. THANKS ARTIST GUITARS!
Majorcool !

Joyo American Sound
By: Anonymous on 13 January 2014I bought this pedal because I wanted a more classic Fender amp sound without the classic costs. I also wanted a better tone for recording as I have never been happy with the Line6 Amp sounds. This unit sounds fantastic. When I run it directly into my old and worn out Peavey Classic 30 with the color dial set close to zero and the drive set very low for a nice clean sound it transform my sound. Even my wife and kids noticed the difference and they aren't exactly tone buffs. It is now a permanent part of my rig and is always on. I run quite a few boss pedals in front of it and it behaves just like an amp would. The only criticisms is that it can produce a little noise, not a lot, and not enough for me to be concerned, but for $45.00 you cannot go wrong. My setup: Mex strat with Gold Lace pups -> BOSS AW-3, CS-3, SD1, DS1, (Arion MEQ), CE-5, DD-7, RV-5, RC-3 -> into the Joyo. Then either Amp of Mac with headphones.

What is a cookie
We use cookies and URL information to gather information regarding the date and time of your visit and the information for which you searched and which you viewed on the Website. “Cookies” are small pieces of information that a website sends to your computer’s hard drive while you are viewing a web site. We may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience on our Website. Persistent Cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions. Cookies may enable automatic logins when you visit in the future and may enable content customisation.
Some cookies are necessary to allow you to browse our Website, use its features, and access secure areas. The use of these cookies is essential for our Website to work.
We also use functional cookies to remember choices you’ve made or information you’ve provided, such as your username, language, or the region you are in. This allows us to tailor your website experience specifically to your preferences. For example, authentication cookies are functional cookies that are used for the duration of a session (or persistent, if you agree to the “remember me” function) to allow users to authenticate themselves on subsequent visits or to gain access to authorized content across pages. The functional cookies we use include:
• User-centric security cookies to detect authentication abuses for a limited persistent duration, like repeated failed login attempts. These cookies are set for the specific task of increasing the security of our Website.
• Multimedia content player session cookies (flash cookies) are used for the duration of a session to store technical data needed to play back video or audio content (e.g. image quality, network link speed, and buffering parameters).
• Load balancing session cookies are used for the duration of the session to identify the same server in the pool in order for the load balancer to redirect user requests appropriately.
• User interface customisation persistent cookies are used to store a user’s preference regarding a service across web pages.
We use many tools to help us improve our Website. To this end, we use reporting and analytics cookies to collect information about how you use our Website and how often. These cookies only gather information for statistical purposes and only use pseudonymous cookie identifiers that do not directly identify you. The performance cookies we use include:
• First party analytics cookies - we use these cookies to estimate the number of unique visitors, to improve our Website and to detect the most searched for words in search engines that lead to our Website. We use these cookies to learn how our Website is performing and make relevant improvements to improve your browsing experience.
• Third party analytics cookies - we also use Google Analytics and other third-party analytics providers listed below to help measure how users interact with our Website content. These cookies “remember” what our users have done on previous pages and how they’ve interacted with our Website. For more information on Google Analytics, visit Google’s information page. For instructions on how opt out of Google Analytics, see below.
Advertising cookies are used on our Website to tailor marketing to you and your interests and provide you with a more personalized service in the future. These cookies remember that you visited our Website and we may share this information with third-parties, such as advertisers. Although these cookies can track your device’s visits to our Website and other sites, they typically cannot personally identify you. Without these cookies, the advertisements that you see may be less relevant and interesting to you. Read more about how companies use cookies to conduct targeted or retargeted advertising here.
Social and Content cookies are placed by many social media plugins (for example the Facebook ’like’ button), and other tools meant to provide or improve the content on a website (for example services that allow the playing of video files, or that create comments sections). We integrate these modules into our Website to improve the experience of browsing and interacting with our Website. Please note that some of these third party services place cookies that are also used for things like behavioural advertising, analytics, and/or market research.
We also use third party vendor re-marketing tracking cookies, including:
• the Google Adwords tracking cookie;
• the Facebook Pixel; and
• SmartrMail tracking cookie.
You can opt out of Google's use of cookies or device identifiers by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you may visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page or control the use of device identifiers by using your device’s settings.
Third parties, including Google may use cookies, web beacons, and other storage technologies to collect or receive information from the Service and elsewhere on the internet and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads. You can opt out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting using aboutads.info/choices
Many of the third party advertising and other tracking services listed above offer you the opportunity to opt out of their tracking systems. You can read more about the information they collect and how to opt out through the privacy policy links listed above.
To opt out of these communications please visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt out page.
How long will cookies remain on my computer or mobile device?
The length of time that a cookie remains on your computer or mobile device depends on whether it is a “persistent” or “session” cookie. Session cookies last until you stop browsing and persistent cookies last until they expire or are deleted. Most of the cookies we use are persistent and will expire between 30 minutes and two years from the date they are downloaded to your device.
How do I control cookies?
You can control and manage cookies in various ways. Please keep in mind that removing or blocking cookies can negatively impact your user experience and parts of our Website may no longer be fully accessible.
Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can choose whether or not to accept cookies through your browser controls, often found in your browser’s “Tools” or “Preferences” menu. For more information on how to modify your browser settings or how to block, manage or filter cookies can be found in your browser’s help file or through such sites as: www.allaboutcookies.org.
Many of the third party advertising and other tracking services listed above offer you the opportunity to opt out of their tracking systems. You can read more about the information they collect and how to opt out through the privacy policy links listed above.
