About Artist Guitars Factory Seconds

This is a factory second product which means it didn't pass our Quality Control test. It could be due to minor scratches, small marks, a slight discolouration of the wood, the paint could be a different colour or some other minor cosmetic issues. Each guitar will usually only have one of these issues. They play and function perfectly and sound the same as the guitars that passed quality control. Unfortunately, we can't show pictures of individual guitars.

We have a very strict Quality Control and if the guitars were damaged significantly or the sound of the guitar was changed they would not have become a factory second (we have 3 different grades for damaged products depending on how damaged an item is). This is a great buy and just like all of our products it also comes with 100-days free returns and a full 3-year warranty.

Artist Cherry58 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar w/ Humbucker Pickups

This classic style guitar has existed in many forms since it was first released in 1958. Since then it has been coveted by some of the greatest Rock 'n Roll, Blues, and Jazz guitarists that the world has ever known. Legendary names like BB King, Freddie King, John McLaughlin, Larry Carlton, Jorma Kaukonen, Eric Clapton, and Elvin Bishop are among the multitude of players who have loved the diverse tones that this type of instrument offers. Now it's your turn!

The Artist Cherry58 offers a perfect entry-level guitar for those wishing to begin their journey into the world of blues and Jazz. With the typical set-neck, this guitar is truly a "blues machine". Like the body, the neck is constructed of maple on an eco-friendly Eco-Rosewood fretboard. This wood is a fine substitute for rosewood which is now considered a highly endangered species and as a result is rarely if ever used in general guitar building these days. The 22 frets show off the 'Dot' shaped plastic inlays and the comfortable "C" shape neck, tune-o-Matic bridge and stop-bar tailpiece means you have a guitar that will not only feel great under your fingers but one that will sustain forever.

The Cherry58 sports chrome-covered VLPA Humbuckers with Alnico V magnets, giving you warm throaty tones on the neck pickup or the biting clean sounds of the bridge pickup. When you set your toggle switch in between neck and bridge pickup you get that wonderful almost out of phase sound, making this an extremely versatile guitar that will be very responsive under your fingers. You will be able to put a stamp on all those great blues solos and wail like the greats or you could darken the tone to suit the "cool" of any dingy little jazz club.

The Cherry58 awaits. Are you ready to take it on?

Cherry 58

I was pleasantly surprised when the guitar, a factory 2nd, arrived, it's overall finish was very nice, it took me a few minutes to find a small discolouration in the curve of the upper horn. I play mainly for myself and family so I'll never gig the 58 but I think this guitar is would be good enough use on stage. I did do a basic setup ie I adjusted the string height to suit me. The nice chunky neck was already in great shape and needed no adjustment the tuners work as good as my more expensive guitars do. The fretboard is nicely bound and needed some oil, there were a couple of catchy fret ends but they cleaned up easily. I did rub the glossy neck finish with 1500 wet and dry which made a huge difference for me. I'm very happy with this guitar no regrets at all.

The Cherry58 was my 5th guitar from artist and as always the quality is exceptional. Plays like butter right out of the box and really shows why artist is the best value for money company out there. Will definitely be buying again

Love The New Guitar

By: on 27 September 2021
Sounds great and the workmanship and presentation is spot on. After a rub down on the strings to get the surface smooth ( a bit of surface roughness even with the 2 silica gel packets ) the guitar is a joy to play. The neck and frets are just perfect.

Incredible Value for a 335 Style Guitar

By: on 30 August 2021
I bought this guitar back in May and wanted to give it some time before writing a review. This is the first guitar I've bought from Artist have to say this is amazing value! I bought a factory second and was worried that the imperfections would have me returning it straight away but was pleasantly surprised to find they are very minor and you can only see them if you look close. The pros are: Out of the box the guitar is setup pretty well. Just had to raise the pickups and stoptail piece. Tuners hold tune well and turn smoothly. It looks fantastic. The red is darker and richer than pictured. Also can see the wood grain up close which is nice. Binding is all around including the F-hole. It is incredibly cheap. Next cheapest 335 style I could fine was from Ibanez AS53 which is double the price. The pickups sound pretty good for the price. Cleans are nice and warm. Also good dirty tones. The cons are: The eco rosewood fingerboard wasn't cleaned properly and staining fingers quite a lot. Had to spent some time cleaning it and now its fine. Thanks Artist for helping out with this. Some of the fret markers on the side are not aligned center on the binding. Also, wish the pickups had 4 wires so can install coil splits. The pros far outweigh the cons and I've ended up selling off some other guitars as this has now become my go to instrument. On top of that, dealing with Artist guitar has been great. Some of the best customer service I have experienced. I've bought some other products which weren't to my liking and returns have been quick and hassle free. Also made a number of enquiries and responses have been quick and in detail. Will definitely be coming back.

Excellent value

By: on 23 July 2021
Received my Cherry 58 this week. Had a slight issue with the bridge tone pot but Artist assured me that they will rectify any issues under the warranty which is very reassuring. The frets were slightly marked and the fretboard was very dry but a session with steel wool and oil and a quick action reset and it plays beautifully. A novice probably would not be able to carry out this maintenance but at the price it would be worth having a guitar tech give it the once over anyway. At this price point it is excellent value and it plays beautifully. What more can you ask for really.

Bang For Your Buck

By: on 22 July 2021
Bought this guitar to quench my Chuck Berry phase, and it does the job real well. My only critique is that the guitar arrived with a really dry fretboard, and the frets were oxidised. Could be just issues with the way the guitar was stored, but it was a very simple fix. After a quick once over with the steel wool, the frets are now much smoother. And the dry fretboard is quickly fixed after a quick oil wipe and cleanup. All in all, I was really surprised how good the guitar looks in person, at this price point. I will definitely come back for more next time.
