Artist SSCFR Dark Fire Electric Guitar w/ Humbucker Pickups

More Floyd Roses can never be a bad thing! Following the success of our Gnosis6FR model, the SSCFR is a lean, mean shredding machine. This style of electric guitar is loved by Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Guitarists and has become a classic icon of that genre. Since the early 2000s, the popularity of this style of guitar has surged, becoming the favoured guitar for the modern heavy music movement. Bands like Periphery, Parkway Drive, and I Killed the Prom Queen have made this style of guitar their go-to axe when wailing in that all-out crushing tone demanded from open low-tuned music. Now... it's YOUR turn.

The Artist SSCFR sports an Okoumen body with a deep transparent two-tone burst straight from the depths of hell. The D-shaped European Maple neck features a smooth satin finish, and the Purple Heart fingerboard is as flat as they come, clocking in at a radius of 400mm/15 3/4". This makes for an unbelievably quick neck that offers very little resistance for all you shredders out there. Divebomb and screech until you can't hear your neighbour's complaints with a licensed Floyd Rose® Tremolo, and turn the volume up to 11 but beware - the Artist Guitars warranty does NOT provide coverage for any faces that melt off as a result of purchasing this guitar!

Fun but rough around the edges

By: on 10 May 2024
I purchased this guitar as a customer return, although I suspect it might have been a factory second. The finish, in particular, is underwhelming. I wanted to like it, but the veneer lacks definition. The neck is also rough to the touch, and the fretboard is scratchy and loud when playing acoustically. The tight input jack angle also seems wrong. Most cables just won't fit without damaging the veneer. Perhaps future iterations will correct these issues, but I'm disappointed as I do have another Artist guitar that definitely feels far superior in terms of finish and quality control. If weren't a customer return, I might have considered returning it for another to see if I just got a little unlucky. I think the guitar redeems itself in terms of playability. It punches above it's weight but I certainly wouldn't say it's comparable to guitars double the price. I'm not sure if the FR is licensed or an original, but it seems to perform well under stress. The pickups are hot, making it hard to tame at first but fun to play. Overall, it's a pretty decent guitar for the style. You can definitely shred on it for days.

Awesome

I had been wanting a low cost guitar with a Floyd Rose, and in this price range my options were either this guitar or the Artist Gnosis which I am still yet to try. And needless to say this guitar has been incredible in the short time I have owned it. Holds tune really well and the pickups sounds unreal! Well worth the money at this price point, and definitely holds up against more well known brands. This guitar will not disappoint!

My new favourie guitar

By: on 29 January 2024
This is my 8th Artist guitar. In order of preference: This one (SSCFR Dark Fire), 6 string multi-scale (AMS6), Brownburst 58, Explorer (no longer in production), LP59, Bass (APB34), Grungemaster, and finally my 8 string multi-scale (AG78V2). Too many strings for me - but a Facebook bargain cannot be ignored...! Anyhoo - the SSCFR Dark Fire: Aside from being stunningly beautiful, this guitar is really light with a fast/thin neck, and the sound is unsurprisingly excellent. My playing has improved since I bought this - because I just keep picking it up. The Floyd Rose maintains tuning after dive bombs and it required minimal set up out of the box - which was genuinely appreciated, because perfecting intonation on a Floyd Rose is not easy. I have over 20 guitars - including Fender, G&L, Ibanez & Epiphone. This is my new favourite. I am continually blown away by the quality of Artist guitars for the price. This guitar is highly recommended.
