D'Addario EXL110 10-46 Electric Guitar Strings Light 3 Pack
$37.99 $27.99
The LP59GT90 features a Gold coloured top and two Cream "soapbar"-style P90 Pickups. These stacked P90 Pickups are coil-splitting, so using the push/pull control knobs they can be switched between normal P90s, and stacked, creating humbucker-like tones.
The Artist LP59GT90 guitar is a top-of-the-line guitar whether it be for gigging or recording and is definitely one of the best guitars on the market in relation to quality and price. This guitar has a great rock/ blues sound that easily produces that big fat fluid sound so typical of any top-end guitar of this style.
The African Mahogany body is finished off with a single-ply cream binding over carved poplar cap, with a very thin basswood venner that provides an ultra-smooth paint finish. The set neck is made of mahogany and features an eco-rosewood fretboard. The 22 fret neck is a comfortable "C" shape with trapezoid Mother of Pearl inlaid into the eco-rosewood fretboard. With the typical 24.75" scale length you are sure to bend notes as well as any blues or rock player going around.
The guitar is finished with an impressive Gold Top while the back is a clear polyurethane finish. It features deluxe hardware, with chrome locking tuners, a Tune-O-Matic Bridge with Roller saddles, and a Locking Stop Bar Tailpiece.
We also use the best electronic parts to reproduce the classic wiring configuration. 2 Volume and 2 Tone Control, standard 3-way toggle switch, Split Shaft 500K pots, 0.022uf ceramic capacitors and 1/4" Input Jack.
The factory strings are standard D'Addario EXL110 strings.

Great Guitar
By: Jack Meddings on 1 December 2023A very well made, great sounding guitar. Who needs to pay over $1000 for a quality instrument?

Fantastic value
By: Phil Hastie on 22 November 2023I am so happy with my Gold Top. Can't fault it. Polished the frets and set it up the way I like it and its perfect. I can't believe how they make a product this good for the price. Fantastic support from Artist at every level.

Brilliant value
By: Phil Hastie on 9 November 2023To be honest the first one of these I purchased was sent back because of some fretboard binding and fret issues. No hassle return and a new one within 10 days. It is perfect..I restrung and adjusted string height and that was it. Flawless and sounds great. Thanks..great value..great customer backup.

Great looking, but be warry if using as a mod plat
By: Chris Bailey on 8 October 2023Overall the look an feel is fantastic, however if you're looking to mod, like I am to get close to a '56 Gibson, there's a few pitfalls. Firstly the pickup cavities are very deep to take the double coil pickups, so installing after market P90's will require putting a block in the bottom to allow the new pickups to be adjusted to the correct height, 6mm ply works well for me. Secondly, the roller bridge works well for higher gain tones and the hotter double coil pickups, but kill the sustain with cooler pickups, mine are around 8K. Thirdly, and I know this has been brought up in other reviews, but the fret finish could be better, the 20th fret on mine was sitting quite high and the frets needed levelling and dressing, although ends were very nice. One added note, if Artist are trying to market this as a 50's style guitar, why use a modern wiring config and not a 50's style?

Great guitar after a little work
By: Glen on 21 September 2023Paint finish was great, weight is 3.8kg - so ok. The biggest issue was the frets were straight and crowned fine but far from polished. was corroded and rough. Took me two goes with 2000grit then metal polish. Now its super smooth to bend. Also as my other guitar from Artist - same issue. The nut is un-lubed so the high E and B string binds, you cant get it in tune. Good thing it has locking tuners to undo fast. The high E string snapped trying to tune. So strings off for a fret polish and put graphite powder from a pencil in the nut. NOW its smooth and stays in tune, with new Paradigm 9-42 strings. The single coil sound is great, dynamic and bright and plenty of push, quite hot like a P90 should. If the 50hz hum gives you the craps, put in HB mode, it gets only a tiny bit warmer and reduces the drive a bit. So very versatile. Neck pick up you get that 'Another Brick in the wall' solo tone exact. The factory MUST start putting graphite on the nut - it costs like $0.10 and 10 seconds. Way better for people who dont know guitars well like beginners. Polished frets need to be done, at least not that rough! My other guitar a Thinline Tele from Artist is fine with the frets- but the nut was also sticky!. In a nut shell its a good guitar with variety of tone! Another suggestion is Artist supplying stainless steel frets on a model - I would pay more for this!

Manage your expectations
By: CJ on 13 September 2023Simply put, the paintwork on these guitars is flawed. It is a 'get what you pay for' situation. I have been happy with what I've bought from Artist in the past, but they seem unable to get a good quality metallic paint finish. The first guitar had black holes/specks in the paintwork, and so did the replacement that came from the next batch. They are pretty noticeable on inspection. Normally (for something of this price) you might expect the odd paint flaw (though not with even the lowest models of Yamahas), but Artist claims that their instruments are better than their respective price points. In the case of this Gold Top, that is clearly not the case. As long as you are aware that you are essentially buying a 'second', that it is fine, but Artist really should make people aware of this issue by putting that information into the description. Aside from that, the guitar plays well, sounds good and looks good (from a distance). The equivalently priced LPs from Epiphone are not in the same league, and you'd have to go a few models up to get the same features (at a much higher cost). And I only had to do a light setup out of the box (slightly adjusting intonation, which was already pretty close). So would I recommend it? Yes, but manage your expectations on the finish

Amazing piece of art
By: Steve J on 1 September 2023I recently purchased one of these gold tops with the P90. I was expecting it to be typical of a lower price guitar. However when it turned up I was absolutely stunned! This thing plays amazing sounds fantastic and has the most impeccable finish of any of my guitars including some very top name brands. I would strongly recommend artist guitars to anybody.

This is a serious Rock machine
By: Graham on 20 April 2023I had been waiting months to get my hands on one of these bad boys, and once I did OMG! My mind was blown, the build quality, playability, and tone, are just out of this world! It plays and sounds so amazing, it has fast become my favourite. Eclipsing even my Gibson Slash Les Paul Standard. Those stacked P90's have got some serious attitude. I don't know how Artist Guitars do it but I hope they continue because this is one mean rock machine.

LP59GT90
By: Mark Williams on 16 March 2023A couple of months ago I purchased one of these guitars Six weeks ago I was gifted a Gibson 59 Les Paul standard reissued. A $10k guitar. The guitar has several major faults as had the two previous Gibson's. Their quality control is crap. One crap pickup, warped neck, Loose tuners, will not stay in tune to name a few. The Artist Guitar came fault free. This guitar is 1/25 the price of my Gibson and is absolutely incredible value for money Artist guitars have won me over. Grab one of these Artist guitars while you can

Love my Artist Gold Top!
By: Anonymous on 23 February 2023I think it is time for guitarists to let go of their brand-centric assessment of what is a good guitar. I've been shopping around for a LP for a long time now and the Gibsons (with price in mind!) were not cutting the mustard. On last shop I ended up with an Ibanez ARZ800 (excellent value). This time around I've ended up with not one, but two Artist LP style guitars. At this price point I was gob-smacked at the playability, tone and quality. My AP97 needed a little love (nothing I wouldn't do for my Gibson) and the Gold Top, after a little tweak of the intonation, was good to go. I was going to replace the pickups in both but have decided that the ones they came with are not only good enough but are comparable with any of the Dimarzios, EMGs and Lace pickups I have in my other guitars. The value of these guitars leaves me *GASing for more. * Guitar Aquisition Syndrome. Thank you Artist.

60 th gift
By: John Dockery on 10 February 2023I’d purchased an Artist lp60csb les back in February last year , but wanted a gold top but couldn’t wait, I was blown away by the lp60 , The wife brought me the gold top for my birthday7 months later, having the expectation it would be as good a quality as the Lp 60 I was a little disappointed , as the 15 fret had some glue substance on it which made it buzz like mad , there was also a black stain on the neck binding and the fret nibs were not finished properly, I didn’t complain to Artist guitars, nor shall I , I have addressed these issues, the guitar is spot on , the finish is perfect, tuners quite adequate, comfortable neck etc , it’s funny though how the same q/c guy ( Hank) let this one go through, as the lp60 was perfect, if there’s one thing I would change it would be , please don’t drill holes for the scratch plate, supply it by all means , as I’ve removed mine , all in all Artist do make great guitars and I’m sure if I had contacted them they would have offered a response, I’m rating at 4 star but only for the minor imperfections . And do recommend Artist to those I know looking for great gear that’s budget priced.

Great Gold Top LP Without the Classic Styling
By: Peter on 26 January 2023There's not a lot of companies making P90 routed LP guitars out there at the moment. I bought mine as a customer return with a slight fault which was easy to rectify. It's a fabulous playing and sounding guitar with some real high end options included with it - like stacked coil splitting P90s (almost like going from single P90 to humbucker mode), locking tuners, aluminium locking tailpiece, roller bridge, mother of pearl inlays and fret nibs found on G style guitars. Some of these hardware features are also included on other Artist LP59/LP60 models (which I also own). Now onto the bad parts. If you're expecting "traditional" classic styling, this ain't it. The gold finish is more orange than gold and what you tend to find on low end goldtops (like Tokai, Harley Benton). It's not a bad finish by any stretch, just not very traditional looking. Goldtops also tend to have a clear rear mahogany finished body. This ones a dark brown finish over it to hide the basswood body. Again, not that it's bad, but not traditional. As most of the LP59's come with a mahogany body with a poplar cap/maple veneer, I can't see why you couldn't do it with the Goldtops? Saves sourcing timber for two types of guitars that are essentially the same and price points. If you can get over the non-traditional look, it's a fantastic guitar for the price (much better than the Harley Bentons). However if you're after a more traditional looking Goldtop style, you might have to look elsewhere.

awesome build
By: David on 20 January 2023Just received my 59LP Gold Top... What can I say? The build is comparable to a genuine Les Paul I owned a few years ago... Genuine Japanese electronics, locking tuners and an imaculate finish. Guitar even sounds good unplugged, which is a good sign. Quite weighty, but really well balanced so no discomfort. The only thing I don't like is the cheap looking pickguard. So I've ordered a cream pearl pickguard to replace it. This is the first guitar I've bought that I haven't felt the need to modify it out of the box (apart from the minor cosmetic change I'm doing) Love your work Artist Guitars.

Remarkable Value
By: doug roberts on 28 December 2022Bought this without any great expectations but it plays and sounds better than many desirable Gibsons I have owned and played. Expected to have to upgrade it significantly but so far it needs very little changed. It’s not perfect, the frets needed polishing to play well and my only gripe is the tunematic posts are not quite straight and have a little play in them but it still tunes fine, sounds fantastic and regardless of the amazing value is simply a great guitar. My poor old Gibson is getting very little playing time at the moment .

Best Value for money guitar I own
By: Adam William Slater on 7 November 2022I bought one of these because I was shopping for a guitar with P90 pickups and was at first considering something from Fender Mexico. I came across some reviews by some YouTubers I trust on this guitar, and they raved about it. I said to myself "Self, this is about a third of what you intended to spend. You should buy one and take the punt" When it arrived, I was surprised how good it looked in person and how well set up it was. My only criticism would be that the frets were a little gritty. This only took a couple of minutes with some 0000 steel wool and some Autosol to fix. It now plays and sounds as good as guitars four or five times the price. Highly recommended especially for newer players who want a decent guitar without having to sacrifice their first-born child.

Review Artist LP59GT90 Electric Guitar Gold Top wi
By: Scott Ginn on 29 September 2022I've been playing an entry level sunburst Artist LP60 Les Paul for the past couple of years and recorded a lot of my most recent album using it. It has served me well, but there is a significant step up in quality when you move up to the Artist LP59GT90 Electric Guitar Gold Top with P90 Pickups. I read and watched some of the reviews prior to purchase and this guitar definitely lives up to the glowing recommendations, so I have been eyeing off one of these babies for a while. From the spankingly good looking body finish through to the locking tuners, it's a lovely instrument. The neck is wider in the LP59 than the LP60 which for me is a good thing. The P90 pickups sound great. You can feel the weight difference between the lighter LP60 and the LP59, but it's still comfortable and well balanced. Artist Guitars are doing a great job at finding the right price point between quality and price with these guitars. As with everything I've purchased from Artist Guitars, the guitar arrived in super quick time after the shipment hit the shores. Am I glad I bought this guitar? You betcha!!!!

This guitar stands out
By: Benjamin on 7 February 2022My first electric guitar I bought from Artist was actually the LP59TRB with humbuckers and back then I found it really hard to decide between that beautiful black burst and the shiny gold top with P90s. I went for the humbuckers and that was by no means a bad decision. But I couldn't get the P90 sound out of my head and I finally went for it. And WOW - what a wonderful guitar! The sound really rocks and as mentioned in another review before the bridge pick up is a killer. Absolutely awesome. I'm still not sure if I bought it more because I simply wanted to have a gold top or because of the P90 option. But I'm really glad that I did. Congratulations, Artist Guitars, on another wonderful instrument. I still can't get my head around how they do this quality for this price. The only thing that I'd like to see improved on this guitar is the pickguard that compared to the rest of the guitar feels almost cheap and wobbly. Compared to the pick guard on the Cherry semi-hollow this one could definitely use an upgrade. Does it really matter when I play it? Not a bit. 5 stars it is.

18k
By: Chris Merry on 19 September 2021This guitar was worth the wait. Its a beautiful instrument with a deep metallic golden finish. No issues out of the box with a quick tune up and away we go! Holds tune very well and sings -and you can dial in a variety of tones with the push/pull split on the stacked P90s (lighter jazzier to heavier rock crunch) - it is a noodler's dream! Overall, very happy with this guitar and with Artist (this is my third Artist guitar and the fifth in the house)

there's something like honey about Les Paul's gold
By: Pablo Kordov on 15 September 2021It's iconic and draws you in ! ... I've wanted one for years so I was pretty jazzed when I saw Artist Guitars were doing this one at a budget price .. I also really like Bacchus Guitars but shipping from Japan is expensive and now tricky ... I've got some cymbals from the Artist range and they are really good and I felt comfortable taking a punt on this guitar .. it's pretty good ! I took the pickguard off ( sexier) , lowered the action , adjusted some intonation (tho it was almost spot on anyway) and have been having a fun time getting to know this axe ... still early days so the only thing I'm not too sure about is how well it will hold tune over an extended session or gig ( and that's the only reason I haven't given the 5 stars) but frankly for the money it is scratching some serious mojo itch !!! ,, yeeehaaaaw !

Artist LP59GT90 - more than amazing
By: Jerry on 14 September 2021I am not usually one to leave reviews for products unless they are exceptionally bad or good, with the Artist LP59GT90 it is certainly a case with the latter. It exceeds all expectations I had in terms of playability, tone and aesthetics. As for playability, the LP59 has a nice low action that does not produce any fret buzzes and was pretty much good-to-play right out of the box, the eco-rosewood fretboard felt really nice too. Aesthetically it is a gorgeous guitar, the gold top finish is perfect in natural lighting and could easily compare to that of a $4000 Gibson Les paul goldtop. As for tone, I was initially hoping for these to come with humbuckers but was pleasantly surprised by the versatility and quality of these P90 pick-ups - they are fantastic on their own and can also be stacked for a fuller, more traditional humbucker sound. The only minor issue I had was the frets on the lower registers were slightly unpolished and can feel a bit gritty while bending, but it is an easy fix and doesn't really affect the overall playability. Once again I am very satisfied with this purchase and look forward to more quality products from artist guitars!

By: Anonymous on 11 September 2021I received my LP59GT90 earlier this week and was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the quality of the build and playability straight out of the box I have other guitars varying in value from $4000 now down to $399 and my new LP59GT90 stands up to the best of them and that neck pickup in the single p90 position is pure tone for days absolutely astounding work guys I’d love to see a nice rickenbacker 12 string artist model in the future

By: Anonymous on 9 September 2021I recently purchased a TC59 Tele Style from Artist Guitars, and subsequently ordered the Gold Top as well. It arrived yesterday and I spent some time on it today with a small action adjustment and WOW. The fit and finish of this guitar (as well as the TC59) is excellent. Metallic Gold?
By: Anonymous on 7 September 2021I received it a few days ago. Beautiful. The finish is flawless. The set-up was quick and easy, i filed the nut slots, adjusted the truss rod, lowered the bridge, it took 15 minutes in all. I find it lighter than the other 59s. It plays beautifully, great tones, nothing bad to say about it. I just love it. Before this one, I was thinking of buying the Epiphone Les Paul gold top, but ..... no. this is way better. Well done, Artist.

By: Mudcat Mooney on 6 July 2021This is one awesome guitar.. solid and robust build.. Great playability after a basic setup, tones go from bluesy sweet to rocking at the push/pull of the volume pots. Highly recommend this from beginner to gigging player.. awesome guitar

Gold top goodness
By: Bernie Rourke on 11 June 2021After a few hassles with courier delivery times my Goldtop arrived on my birthday. I have to say it was an awesome birthday gift to myself. I cannot fault Artist at all for their level of contact and communication. The guitar arrived (on my birthday) and the finish and colour was simply amazing. The ONLY issue was one pot sitting way higher than the rest but I have since sorted that out myself and did not affect the look or function of the guitar. The stacked P90 sized Humbuckers are so good that I tend to only run them in Humbucker mode and not P90 mode...whodathunkit...I've been a P90 guy for years. All in all I'm very impressed with Artist...now we just need that DC P90 and away we go :)

Great Value and Quality
By: Anonymous on 12 May 2021I now have eight Artist Guitars and one bass, and I can't fault any of them. Most were ready to play straight out of the box, and others just needed minor adjustments and a string change. The Gold Top is a gorgeous guitar with a great finish. I love the P90 style pickups. I haven't bought another brand of guitar for ages because I love the quality and price of the Artist guitars, plus the fantastic service and the security of the warranty. I'm only an amateur player, but the price and quality of Artist guitars has enabled me to grow a stable of guitars with different tones and feel, and it motivates me to play more often. Most of my brand name guitars have been languishing in their cases, and all my Artist guitars are on a stand for easy access. Artist Guitars have a great business model and are customer-centred. I hope they are still around when I become a grandfather because they will be my go to store for Christmas and birthday presents!

WOW!!!

By: Krystel on 24 February 2021Lp59 goldtop This is a beautiful looking guitar, it was pretty much set up when it arrived I just changed the strings and adjusted the action to my liking. I haven’t been able to put it down since it arrived. I’ve bought a few items from artist and it’s always quick delivery and good customer service.

Artist LP59GT90 LP Electric Guitar Gold Top with P
By: Roger on 21 February 2021Must admit I was a bit hesitant at first but after playing this baby for a while I am blown away! The action was pretty good straight out of the box. A little high for my taste but no big deal. General finish and presentation were excellent at this price point and not that much different to my Les Paul. No sharp fret ends, lovely gold finish and push-pull controls offer different tones as well as reducing the noise associated with P90 style PU's. Very impressed indeed !! We done Artist team.
Artist Guitars Response
No worries and thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review Roger! We appreciate the support!
I have a Gold Top.
By: Anonymous on 15 January 2021OMG it arrived and now I own an LP GT. This beast is all class, she's a heavy girl and sounds like a dream. Out of the box it required a tune...and that was all, intonation and action are acceptable, I love to lower the action on my guitars but this one didn't need it so now I have nothing to do except play my new guitar with unexpected coil splitting to sweeten an already brilliant deal. 11/10 Artist guitars, you've done it again.
A Classic Guitar at a great price!
By: Rob McCarthy on 13 January 2021My new Artist LP59GT90 Gold Top is brilliant. It's finish is great, the playability and sound is fantastic. It has that 'Old School' 50s-60s sound perfect for Rock, Blues and Jazz. A big surprise is the P90 style single coil pickups are stacked and switchable! Press in the volume control and you get that big blues rock sound. Pull out the volume control and you get a quieter brighter sweet tone still with classic single coil sound but with no hum or buzz! This new build axe is a winner. Thanks Artist for listening to your customers and delivering. Highly recommended!
Best ever!
By: Anonymous on 9 January 2021I love this even more than my Artist LP59CSB. The finish is magnificent, The Gold Top color is closer to the Gibson than the current Epiphone model. The playability is spot on for me and the sound of those P90s is the best. It gives just the right sound for Blues/Rock. Can't recommend it any higher! Thanks Artist!
You have done it again....
By: Anonymous on 7 January 2021I have just recived my LP59GT90 & what can I say, other than you have delivered for me again. I first owned a LP60 & build one of there Stratocaster Kits. These were good fun and I learned alot. But it's there newest range that really shines. I have a BROWNBURST 58 X that has been a great guitar & is one of my favorites. Now the LP59GT90 - it's a step up again. Build is spot on. I have been really impressed with Artist's range and service. Thank you.
Absolute Bargain Guitars and Amps.
By: Rob Bishop on 27 November 2020I have the Cherry 58, which is comparable to the 3 Gibson ES335's that I have owned over the last 40 years. I then got a TC59 , and a Tweedtone 20R Amp. Just blown away with the Build quality, finish, and great sounds. Way to go Artist. Next purchase will be The Les Paul Goldtop.
It's on order and I'm excited about this new class
By: Rob McCarthy on 8 September 2020I've had an Artist LP59 Deluxe with cherry burst top and Bull Bucker pickups for some time. It (along with my other Artist purchases) has been brilliant. Can't wait to get my new model Gold Top which is on order. It'll the perfect vintage style compliment to the classic LPs and I like P90 pickups. If it's as good as the LP59 burst I'll be more than happy.

How long will cookies remain on my computer or mobile device?
The length of time that a cookie remains on your computer or mobile device depends on whether it is a “persistent” or “session” cookie. Session cookies last until you stop browsing and persistent cookies last until they expire or are deleted. Most of the cookies we use are persistent and will expire between 30 minutes and two years from the date they are downloaded to your device.
How do I control cookies?
You can control and manage cookies in various ways. Please keep in mind that removing or blocking cookies can negatively impact your user experience and parts of our Website may no longer be fully accessible.
Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can choose whether or not to accept cookies through your browser controls, often found in your browser’s “Tools” or “Preferences” menu. For more information on how to modify your browser settings or how to block, manage or filter cookies can be found in your browser’s help file or through such sites as: www.allaboutcookies.org.
