Artist AMB4 Chameleon Headless Bass Guitar w/ Active Pickups

This latest addition to the Artist Headless range is certainly an eye-catcher! With a chameleonic, sparkle finish, the AMB4 appears to change colour depending on lighting conditions, making for a bass guitar seemingly purpose-built for the stage.

The headless construction makes for a shortened string length, which leads to immensely improved tuning stability when compared with a traditional bass. This has the added benefit of ameliorating neck dive, an issue that has plagued bass players for far too long! Headless basses in the vein of the AMB4 are also considerably lighter... who knew the headstock made such a difference? This is further improved by the incredibly lightweight poplar body.

Sporting a matte-finished roasted Canadian maple neck and a long-grained purple heart fretboard, the AMB4 is a head turner from top to bottom (and it doesn't even need a head to do it!) With active pickups and a Belcat EQ-B3T active EQ, you'll be slapping and popping with the best of them, or sludging your way through the dark if that's more your speed.

Great Bass for the money - Artist AMB4 Chameleon H

By: on 10 June 2024
I recently purchased Artist AMB4 Chameleon Headless Bass Guitar w/ Active Pickups from the Bargain Bin returns. Its a very nice Bass and plays well. The neck profile is very nice and it had no Fret sprout or sharp ends, the Active pick ups sound great. Certainly no neck dive. Only 3 things that I see is, 1, the bass has no intonation when you get it, and that has to be set up, 2, the tuners and a bit stiff to turn, (it needs some kind of lubricant), and when you do a string change the turners need to be completely unwind and the strings pulled through at the headless head stock and locked down to archive a full tension so you have plenty of turns/winding on the tuners so it tunes up nicely. 3, it doesn't have a pull/push switch so you can disengage the battery while your cable its still plugged in preserve power, (you can't leave it plugged in, it will drain the life of the battery). Anyway other than that its a very nice Bass

Long time guitarist, first bass purchase. The Artist value for money is unbeatable! I couldn't resist picking this one up when I saw the colourshift paint and it's just as sweet in person! One of my bridge/tuner units needed a little work to run smoothly, but otherwise it seems like fantastic value and a great starter bass.
