My New Favourite

By: on 28 September 2021
Firstly, let me say I NEVER leave product reviews, but this time I feel compelled to share my thoughts. I've been playing for nearly 40 years and in that time I've had many different guitars come and go, including 3 Gibsons (2 x LP and a 335),2 Fenders (Tele and Strat) and numerous 'copies'. On a whim, after hearing some good things about Artist guitars I ordered an AG1 that arrived 5 days ago. After a quick setup (lowered the action slightly and set the intonation) and a new set of strings, I plugged it in and all I can say is WOW. I've owned guitars that literally cost 10 times as much as this baby that didn't play or sound nearly as good. Honestly my new favourite guitar...action is like butter, pups are hot, and the finish and build quality are excellent. The only thing I might change out are the tuners for a set of lockers. I honestly don't know ho Artist put out a guitar of this quality at the price but I'm very happy that they do. If you're looking for an SG style guitar I highly recommend the Artist AG1

I set Mine on fire.

By: on 14 September 2021
Yes, its true, I set my artist AG1 on fire. For when I bought this guitar it was the same price as it is now, for a beginner is more than enough to get started with the hobby of guitar, for that I believe artist is doing great things with their products, but the second you get a higher quality guitar, realised how bad some of the frets were. The badly machined parts and dead frets that constantly broke your strings. You realise it would be a crime to give it to someone else or donate it. In all seriousness, arist guitars, you make great products but what you need to do is bring the quality control standards up higher for your lower end guitars, because that is what is going to make you stand out much more and make you a house hold name in austrlalia like many other companies. For the price and what it was it got be through the beginnings of my guitar career, although id reccomend a strat to beginners. for that it is, for the price, its not bad. But id be surprised if it realisitcally gets anyone past the first year. Would be better to buy a higher quality guitar with a resell value. For all i know it was just a defective product that I had. I enjoyed your Pbass. All in all, you get what you pay for and thats okay, I enjoyed giving it a jedi funeral, if only I could attatch images.

My Artist SG copy Guitar

Wow, I was impressed when I pulled this guitar out of the bag but when I plugged her into the amp, this guitar and especially the pick ups make this guitar sound so good. The rock tones produced by this guitar is sensational. Bang for your buck? You bet. Great quality and attention to detail on its finish to. A Great guitar.

My 4th Artist. And the best yet.

You can pick nits - that the intonation was way out (had to flip the lower 3 saddles to fix it). And that the tuners could be smoother or the pickups less bland. But beyond those niggles, you get a $4K guitar in disguise. The neck, frets, bodywork, are the best you'll find up to $4K. Rifle bolt straight neck. Zero sharp frets ends, no buzz or dead frets, on a very low action. The wiring cavity was fully coated in shielding paint and the wiring was neat and tidy. If you changed out the tuners and pickups you'd have a $4K guitar. The neck and build are that good. Whoever they're getting to build their guitars have amazing quality control. I have 4 Artist guitars (including the red AG1 as well). So I'm well placed to make an informed assessment. I've said it before, but I can't recommend this guitar (and Artist Guitars) highly enough. They're all great. But the AG1 is the sleeper. The guitar that just needs a tweak here and there to be a genuine working musicians primary guitar. 5 stars is a fair rating in my opinion.

Exceeded my expectations!

I recently received the AG1 SG style to add to my collection of Artist electrics. I ordered the red one at the old price. I was blown away. It had a beautiful deep burgundy red body instead of bright red. It required hardly any set up and the humbuckers sound fantastic and the maple neck plays like a dream. It's also a very stable instrument and holds tune well. I'd play this anywhere.! I now have a Grungemaster, a Les Paul style LP59CSB Deluxe,, an ST62 Strat vintage style, and now the AG1. I also have a Joyo 5Watt tube amp which is great. Thanks Artist. You've made a 73 year old pensioner happy as he's returning to his roots from the 1960s!
