Artist AP59 Honey Burst Electric Guitar w/ Bullbucker Pickups

The Artist AP59HB guitar is a top-of-the-line instrument. For gigging or recording it is definitely one of the best guitars on the market for the quality and price. This guitar has a great rock/ blues sound that easily produces that big fat fluid sound so typical of this style of guitar.

The body consists of a 5A grade Tiger Flame Maple veneer top that is finished off with a single-ply cream binding over a carved poplar cap and a back of solid African mahogany. The 22 fret neck is a comfortable "C" shape with trapezoid mother of pearl inlaid into the Eco-Rosewood fretboard. With the typical 24.75" scale length you are sure to bend notes as well as any blues or rock player going around.

The guitar is finished with an impressive Honey Burst, while the back is a solid black polyurethane finish. The deluxe hardware consists of chrome locking tuners, lock-down-post Tune-O-Matic bridge with nickel saddles, and an aluminum Stop-Bar Tailpiece.

The Pickups we use on our AP59HB are our signature Artist Bullbucker Pickups with Chrome covers. They have a creamy smooth 'flute-like' sound on the neck pickup while the bridge pickup breaks up nicely with no harsh upper mids. They are both vintage-moderate output pickups. Both pickups offer Coil Splitting via the push/pull volume knobs, which guarantees that this guitar will deliver a wide range of tonal options.

We also use the best electronic parts to reproduce the classic wiring configuration. 2 Volume and 2 Tone Control, standard 3-way toggle switch, Japanese Split Brass Shaft 500K Pots, 0.022uF,400V ceramic capacitors, and 1/4" Input Jack.

The factory strings are standard D'Addario EXL110 strings.

What aguitar

By: on 24 July 2023
I've purchased about 6 or 7 Artist guitars over the years, only 1 I send back was a Telecaster there was nothing wrong with it but was just too heavy for me, I have the black 58 SEMI-HOLLOW BODY which I love and play it daily, I'm not normally a Les Paul guy but I thought I might buy 1 for my collection again I watched everything I could find on this guitar and Peter Northcote and Bob Spencer from the Angles reviews sealed the deal as if it was rubbish they would say so, but was nothing that I needed to be concerned about. The guitar is beautiful in RL the pictures don't do it justice that back stain is lovely and the honey burst is amazing the action is perfect out of the box and was in tune the locking tuners and roller bridge keep this puppy in tune pickups are good but I prefer something a bit hotter, I will be buying a couple more artist guitars I have my eye on, if your a beginner this is perfect for you will be a long time before you outgrow it all in all very happy with it and with Artist guitar well-done guys

Worth It - But not a true HB

By: on 3 February 2023
First of all, i want to say this guitar is amazing value for money. At first i was skeptical but i thought that with the 100 day free return, might well be worth the try and i don't regret at all! Whether you want to use it for your daily playing, gigs or as a platform for mod, its one of the best bang for buck out there. The good - The guitar looks amazing overall and there is a lot attention to detail, even though the low price tag. Pickups are quite good for the money and are quite dynamic - need more testing to decide if i would swap them for a more vintage style, but so far, no complaints. The weight is not as bad as you might think, measured it at 3.85kgs, which is exactly the same as my strat part caster. Neck is like a medium C and perfect for big hands like mine (plus i hate super flat necks). Despite the action not being entirely fixed to my liking, i find the overall set up to be great - including intonation. Action is always a matter of taste, so i never expect any brand to get it right all the time. The not so good - This is not a true Honey Burst, its a bit more orangy/yellowish than a proper HB. I think the AP97 might be a better option if you only care about the finish. Frets were not polished so it has a bit of grit when bending (easily fixable by either playing more or simple steel wool). There was a bit of a scratch in the last fret of the fretboard. Nothing major or that affects playability, but is there. Output jack was a bit loose so i had to tight it up (and also had a weird angle.. i guess its due o craftsmanship but i rarely look there so i don't care). Overall, im very happy with the purchase and already thinking about a future purchase with Artist. Just waiting to see if they get adventurous enough to start selling a blue semi hollow :)
