Surprisingly good for the money

By: on 16 June 2022
I have been looking for a decent electric piano that doesn't take up much room and still delivers a good sound and acceptable keyboard. But I also didn't want to spend too much money on it. When I saw the Nux WK310 on the Artist website I started to look for a review on the internet. But it seems there is not much to find on this instrument. So in the end I decided to give it a try. And I'm lucky I did. So first of all it's an easy setup. A few screws and the piano is assembled. The keyboard is heavy as it includes the speakers. So maybe not perfect for gigging. The overall quality is decent enough for the price tag. The keys are plastic as expected and I have to say that you can feel this a little when playing. But that's to be expected on a low price electric piano. The interface is easy to understand. Apart from sound options you can record and replay, there is a metronome and some other options which I haven't really tried yet. Connecting the piano with blue tooth to the learning app sure is an interesting feature for beginners. Let's have a look at the sounds. The Nux WK310 comes with 127 sounds. Most of them are more for fun and the kids love to play helicopter or birds. But the interesting sounds are right at the beginning. The grand piano is convincing and actually comes close to the real thing. The second sound option is a piano - I reckon it has been taken from an upright piano from a well known Japanese brand - and is actually my favourite on this instrument. Brilliant and full. The organ comes in handy when you play some Bach for example and definitely sounds pretty nice. Also the Honky Tonk is fun for the right pieces even though this sound is a bit too clean for my personal taste. Overall I'd easily give five stars for the sounds on this instrument. The dynamic of the keyboard is what you'd expect from a good electronic piano today. It's sensitive enough and I didn't miss anything. Five stars again. The keys themselves give away that you're playing a low price instrument. Even though they play nicely and feel ok, they don't really come close to a grand piano or upright piano. The typical feel of all the mechanics behind the keys is just missing. I got used to it in no time and it doesn't feel wrong either. It's just not the same as real piano. An issue most electric pianos have. So only four stars for the keyboard itself. The pedals work just fine and I haven't had any issues with them . They feel alright and do what they're supposed to. Considering the price tag I think this piano is a bargain. It is definitely suitable for beginners but also for someone who wants a decent instrument and doesn't have the space or doesn't want to deal with a real one. It is easy to move and really doesn't take up much space. Perfect as a second instrument for the advanced player, too. Considering the price tag the Nux WK310 is an absolute bargain in my opinion.
