Please Note: We are in the process of changing model names of some of our guitars. The AJB and JB2 are the same specification.

We believe it's important to have a great quality instrument to kick off your musical career. These bass guitars are designed to be easy to play so they are a great starting point if you want to pick up a bass for the first time. This is a full-size bass and is recommended for Adults or Children over the age of 12 (or younger if your child is strong and taller than 1.2m).

This timeless design is a staple of the world of bass guitars, and our AJBs are perfect for a great many styles and genres of music! Featuring bass single coils in the neck and bridge this guitar can cover a lot of ground and is very comfortable to play. With a volume control for each pickup you can blend your perfect tone, and fine-tune with the master tone control.

Our price is always lower than a retail store (often by 30-40%), and we keep our prices low by only selling our own range of guitars direct from the factory. Our business is built on offering a great value instrument at a great price.

Great value for money

By: on 8 June 2023
I needed another bass and I wanted to switch it up with a jazz bass, and I have absolutely no complaints about the AJB, plays super well, sounds great, and is incredibly affordable. In my opinion if you wanted to get similar quality from a bigger name guitar brand you would easily be paying over double maybe even more for something similar

Actually very nice quality

By: on 23 March 2023
Not just for the price, the bass is actually really good quality in general. I think if you’re beginning, this is one of the best options to a beginning purchase, as this was an amazing quality product and I cannot stress enough how good of a value it is. In terms of quality, for the beginning bass player, it’s very nice and comes with so much extra accessories and even an extra set of strings, which I did not expect. This thing will last a long time. I guess my only nit pick is it came with a tad bit of marks even though it was new, but it was barely visible, and I was looking incredibly hard, not a deal breaker at all. Is this a good beginner bass? Absolutely.

Well worth the money. JB2 Bass

Pleasantly surprised with the quick delivery. An excellent quality bass guitar for the price. I purchased the sunburst one. Arrived already set up and the intonation was perfect. Just need to tune up as the strings are loose for transport. It plays beautifully and tone is great. The neck is very comfortable for my small hands. I purchased the Tweed hard case as well and excellent sturdy case to protect the guitar. Looks amazing too. Highly recommend this guitar for a beginner or more experienced player to have as a spare.

Cheap Jazz Bass? Only in terms of money.

By: on 2 February 2023
Arrived in two days, excellent condition. Includes the basic gig bag as well as the accessories. Lovely neck, fret ends aren't rounded, but feel good. Action is fine. I bought the sunburst one, and it's a lovely honey colour. It has the same basic bridge that Fender puts on their Jazz basses, so no bassis for complaints there. I bought this as a cheap practice bass, but wow, almost perfect. Superb value for money.

Solid, but QA issues

By: on 14 October 2022
First of all, I'm a long-time supporter of Artist and love that they make generally quality instruments at bargain prices. That said, two of the last three instruments I've purchased haven't been as good as what I've experienced previously, although customer service has been great. This is actually the third bass I've owned, and the second JB2 (now AJB). I picked up this one in March/April this year and have been using it since then for at least 6-8 hours per week so feel comfortable to make an informed review. Compared to those two earlier bass purchases, the setup out of the box was frankly rubbish - super high action, buzzing on open strings, and the plastic nut wasn't cut properly and had to be filed back. The pick-ups are definitely underpowered compared to my other J and PJs from other brands in the mid-market price point. I've had to increase the input gain by around 10dB on my amp to get it loud enough to hear clearly. Being a J-style with the requisite single coils, you do expect there to be some hum when isolating either the neck or bridge. I'd say this is a touch on the louder side than what I'm used to, and the pots are super sensitive when dialled even a few degrees. A quick peak under the pick guard reveals some very basic shielding, but there were some loose connections which I had to apply some solder to in order fix. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to fix the buzzing 'A' string no matter how many adjustments I make. A bit of tape across the bridge has worked to dampen the strings has done the trick there. Look, for the price point I'm not going to complain and stamp my feet - but I do feel that some QA here has suffered. I mostly track this bass for music production purposes, so for what I need this bass for, it does the job well enough. Fixing these relatively minor issues, it's working for me as intended - a reliable J that I can use without the high price tag. The neck itself is very comfortable to play, and the weight is about right for seated playing. If I was a complete beginner or first-time buyer, I would be frustrated. On another note, I wish Artist would release a higher-end passive bass with improved hardware and pick-ups, given how much love the electric guitars get!
