Artist TG100EQ Solid Top Tenor Acoustic Guitar w/ Fishman Presys II

The TG100EQ tenor guitar is a fantastic example of an instrument from a bygone era. First appearing in the mid-1920s the tenor guitar, with its unique four string construction was designed with the banjo player in mind. Like the parlour guitar, it has seen a resurgence in popularity in more recent times and offers an interesting alternative for musicians looking for something different in their sound. Great when tuned in traditional tenor banjo tuning - CGDA, the guitar also offers great effect if you are willing to experiment with open tunings.

The top is constructed of solid Sitka spruce while the back and sides are laminated mahogany with a matte finish and Okume neck. While many tenor guitars are smaller bodied instruments, the TG100EQ has been designed with a larger body and it fits nicely into our CC300 classical guitar case. When you combine this slightly larger sized body with the quality timbers used you are guaranteed to get a guitar that projects a well rounded acoustic tone.

The addition of the Fishman Presys II acoustic pre-amp offers a great option when the instrument is plugged into an amplifier.

If you are looking for that special sound TG100EQ could definitely be the guitar for you!

Artist TG100EQ Tenor Guitar

By: on 29 March 2023
After moving up from a baritone ukulele, I was looking for a tenor guitar with pick up. The TG100EQ perfectly fitted my requirements both acoustically and hooked up to an amp. It has a deep mellow sound, looks great and ticks all the boxes for performing. Highly recommended.

Tenor Guitar with Hard Case

Firstly let me say that the customer service team was great in helping me select the right guitar! The product arrived in just over a week, in good condition. It is a great instrument so far, really nice sound and great to play. I have tuned it to DGBE and coming from a Baritone Uke I have found it really nice and fun to play. Still have a lot of options for other tuning too, so I think this will be a fun instrument for a long time. Quality seems pretty good for the price point. Happy with the product and the service. Would recommend Artist Guitars.

Tenor Guitar Review

By: on 15 July 2021
After playing a friends Tenor I bought this guitar with expectations of it being the right purchase for me. The guitar arrived in good condition and relatively unmarked. The sound was what I expected and the neck was pleasantly slim to the hand. These assessments are the positives from this purchase. Now the negatives. The strings were badly corroded and toneless. Upon opening the package containing the guitar I noticed (and photographed) a chunk of the transfer surrounding the sound hole missing. Further examination revealed almost no adhesion between the guitar and the lower section of this “transfer” thing. Very poor, even for a mid to low priced guitar. Looking at that area some more I noticed that the scratch plate did not line up with the sound hole, seeming to sag lower than it should. Again I photographed this defect for later reference. I purchased a hard case with this and it arrived separately and in good condition. Very satisfactory and fit for purpose. Summary. I like this instrument and enjoy playing it in GDAE tuning for Irish tunes (with new strings). What spoils the experience is the terribly sloppy finishing touches that have been made to it. If you can look beyond these blemishes it is a great little guitar and represent good value for money.

Artist tenor guitar

I was very pleasantly surprised by how well the tenor guitar sounds and plays. The hard case is good and they still included the gig bag so I have both. Item was well packed and delivery was prompt. Pickup sounds very good through a Fender Acoustasonic and built in tuner is nice to have. I’ve tried it in a couple of different tunings and the tuners certainly seem to be good enough quality to easily change tunings and hold tune. If I didn’t know I would have put it as a guitar worth at least twice the price. As I play guitar and mandolin/octave mandolin the different tunings were easy to get used to and gives some sounds and chord shapes that you don’t get with a standard guitar. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to explore a tenor guitar without spending too much.
