When you first open the quality hard case you get a whiff of the beautiful wood that makes up this guitar. Then you notice the detailing of the abelone binding and the sound hole. The fit and finish is superb with a high polish on the body and the nicely simple headstock. As an amateur backyard luthier I bought this as a template of sorts, a guide to help me build my own, and I cannot fault the craftsmanship. The fret ends are not sharp (a usual giveaway on cheaper products), but nicely rounded. In the hands the guitar feels just right and plays with ease, although I know the sound will open up a little more in time. The ebony fretboard is excellent and the compensated bone saddle and nut are great touches. I have just recorded my first song with it, using a condenser microphone and the result is a full, rich sound in the mix. Tuning seems very stable and the machine heads turn smoothly with the right amount of resistance. There is nothing budget about this guitar, and buying it on special as I did was such a bonus. I don't really use the pickup much but it sounded pretty good for an acoustic pickup. This guitar hits all the right notes, well done, Artist.

Solid Wood..Solid Quality and Solid Sound

By: on 18 March 2022
I have been waiting for this to arrive which I got from Bargain Bin. I have quite a number of Artist Guitars with me and this is the first time I got one on their higher range and first time to buy an all solid wood from them. I was a bit skeptical at first as I do not know their quality when it comes to all solid acoustics as most that I have got from their are electric ones which are really good sounding and really well built as well. This OMS30EQ finally arrived today and of course, tested it. Straightaway, The quality, built, finish is really stunning and really well built! You can initially feel that you are holding a higher end guitar which I can straightaway say that it sits in the popular badges that are over couple of thousand dollars worth. The binding and the detail from the body up to the headstock is really premium. The fishman pickups/preamp blended very well with the built which produced the sound naturally. So definitely this is a total keeper for the price, quality, built, and sound! Been fan of Artist Guitars from quite some time now though I tend to buy on the Bargain Bin :) This OMS30EQ is definitely one of the best I got hence I have put up this review for the first time too :)

OMS30EQ Solid Wood OM

By: on 20 February 2022
I purchased this solid wood OM sized guitar, based on my previous positive experience with Artist guitars. I have one of their classical guitars that I bought about 5 years ago, it is model HG-403 and is an all solid wood guitar also. The classical guitar has opened up with its sound over the years and I find myself constantly picking it up and being amazed at its volume, tone and build quality. It was time to replace my Cole Clark Fat Lady 2 custom that I had sold a few years ago. I do admit that I tend to gravitate toward top shelf brand names and have probably wasted alot of $'s over the years because of this. I am glad that I purchased this OMS30EQ because it is quite a decent guitar for the money. The tone is what you would expect for this sized guitar and I know it will get better with age. The pickup system is not cheap junk either, it came with Fishman INK4 system, which is piezo only but does have quite a powerful EQ section (& built in tuner) and sounds great through my Genz Benz Shenandoah JR acoustic amp. To get the appointment this guitar has from a big brand name would cost you at least double the money or more. The grain on this guitar looks awesome, Bolivian rosewood I think it is and the gloss finish is top notch. The binding is abalone or pearl material and looks great around the body and soundhole. Also the neck is a satin finish and the fretwork was very well done for this price point. I can see that time was spend on the fret work, no fret sprout or over hang and from the 12th fret to the soundhole the frets have been slightly shaved, this is a manual process that is done during fret levelling and allows a better playing action to be acheived . I did have to file about 0.5mm off the bridge to suit my taste and 1/4 turn of the trussrod, some tweaking is to be expected with any guitar. This guitar was advertised as having bone nut and saddle, mine guitar actually came with, I think it is called melamine, material? I would have preferred bone but its not a deal breaker and the melamine helps with string bind as it is kind of lubricating. I have 2 other guitars with this same material used at the nut and never had a problem with it. Only real complaint with this guitar is the 12th fret marking, I thought this was going to be an inlay, it has the "X" to denote 10th anniversary, well this is just painted on the fretboard and mine had tooling marks scratched through the paint, so it doesnt look that nice. I will have to figure out a solution to this as I am sure with enough playing it will get totally scratched off. I gave my guitar a full set up on the first day and used axe wax on the fretboard and bridge, gave it a few coats to moisturise the ebony wood, put on my favorite elixir strings and this is ready for anything now. The hardcase is sturdy, fits perfectly and was included in the price. Since I have had this guitar for over a week now, I can confirm that it plays as nice as any guitar that I have or had, including my Fat Lady 2. This guitars' setup out of the box would have been totally acceptable to play and gig with. I have just learned over the years that I like a particular action height and neck relief and OCD compels me to set all my acoustics a certain way. For a non-cutaway, I am suprised that I am still able to play upto 14th/15th fret without too much issue. I have played alot of acoustics over the last 20 plus years and this Artist OM feels as good as any that I have played. I like the "A" logo thats is inlaid at the headstock too, nice touch. Now I am just waiting for the Apricus (HH Tele) to come back in stock eta (June2022), maybe I will try the Gnosis, havent had a floyd guitar since the 90's. Keep up the great work "Artist Guitars" they are definetely Australias best value music supplier.

Great Guitar and Excellent Value

By: on 6 October 2021
I received my OMS30EQ yesterday, one day earlier than predicted by the tracking system. Artist Guitars promptly dispatched it after my order was placed and it arrived in good condition. Wow, what an amazing instrument! Before placing my order I was tentative about buying an instrument with the back and sides made from a tone-wood I know nothing about, however now it has arrived it was the right choice. Straight from the box it plays really well, the setup is first class. Tonally it is well balanced with good note separation and acoustically there is plenty of volume. The Fishman pickup and pre-amp are top class too. Visually it is excellent with the clear gloss making the wood grain really "pop". As stated in the description this guitar can hold its own against any other guitar in it's class, and in my case, it is as good as, if not better than a couple of big name brand acoustic guitars in my collection. Well done to Artist Guitars for a great product and excellent service.
