Artist BJC500DX Deluxe Banjo Arch Top Case

Protect your Banjo Guitars From Damage with this Hard Case!

This Arch Top Case will fit a Banjo and keep it safe and sound. It has a durable wooden construction with a lockable latch (the key is inside the case). It has a compartment for all your accessories and spare strings. This case is designed for a typical closed back banjo, open-back banjos might fit as well, but as they are generally not as deep, they will not be a perfect fit in this case (causing the body to be too low, and the neck to be too high, if you have an open back banjo you would need to add some extra padding to use this case).

Banjo Arch Top Case - Deluxe Range Arch Top Case; High-Quality Vinyl, Green Embossed Velvet, Padded Handle, White Stitching & Gold Hardware.

Splendid Sawmill Starter Pack

I'll start out by saying that the range of instruments Artist has is very impressive, and that they are great for what they are. I would frankly trust anything from their range to perform as advertised, and in light of the premiums you pay for instruments these days, I would highly recommend them for a beginner to intermediate player. For what it's worth, I've played an Artist JB2 Bass guitar as well and had a great time on it and was very impressed by the setup and quality, not to mention that it was incredible value. I purchased the 5 string banjo with hardcase after some careful shopping around and much umm-ing and ahh-ing. For the amount you pay, this is great value. I came to desire a 5-string banjo after finding my Bryden 6 string banjo was so quickly becoming my favourite instrument that I needed to go deeper... After all, they are two different beasts. Don't let anyone tell you a 6 string banjo isn't a banjo, but don't let those marketing people tell you that you get a traditional experience out of a 6 string. Both are banjos, but sometimes you need one, and sometimes you need the other. That's where the Artist 5-string came in for me. Some folks might ask why I didn't just buy a Bryden since I liked my 6 string so much. Well, I'll tell ya. Bryden sells a 5-string pack with a few generic extras like fingerpicks, a gig bag, and a tuner all most of which I already owned. Bryden occupy a similar beginner to intermediate position and you can find them in many music stores, but I would strongly recommend an Artist 5-string pack with hardcase if you're sure you want to play a 5-string banjo. The value of the Artist pack is basically unbeatable and to get two cases (in the form of the gig bag and hardcase) is incredible. The banjo itself plays very well and is quite solid. Unlike my Bryden, the strap hooks were firmly secured, and the necessary tools for basic maintenance (socket and hex bit) were included. The neck is extremely playable and the resonator was securely attached. The only fault I could come up with was a slight rattle from the tuning peg on the drone string, which was easily tightened with a Phillips head. This is obviously better than the alternative where the tuner is over-tightened. I observed no major problems with intonation or action (although I have the benefit of being a seasoned player of poorly set up guitars so anything that is decently set up feels good to me!), and I quickly found myself with a ravishing hunger for the various styles of banjo playing. The banjo came set up out of the box with the bridge positioned correctly. This isn't necessarily true of all new banjos, so this was a relief. The gig bag is much like most gig bags: little on the thin side, so when you're talking about a heavier instrument like a banjo with a resonator, $100 or so extra for a hardcase is money well spent. If you started your banjo adventure on a 6 string like me, you'll be pleased to know that the 6 string (or at least my 6 string) fits fine inside the case too. The thing to remember is that you get both. You can store two times as many banjos as you get. That's decent for my money. Sometimes you don't want to be lugging a banjo suitcase. Sometimes you need that extra protection. The opportunity for both isn't something to snigger at, no sirree. All in all I've been tremendously satisfied with my purchase. While the dream for dedicated banjo pickers might be a shmick Deering with custom colours, custom inlays, a pickup, and your name engraved on the headstock, we all have to start somewhere. So if you're looking for a reliable start, Artist ship a damn fine banjo and their policies make you feel safe trying and buying. I'll be using this 'til I've physically earned an upgrade. If you're stuck between this and an equally priced competitor, buy this. It works good right out of the box. You won't be sorry.

Banjo joy

By: on 26 October 2020
I bought this great banjo for my 11 year old grandson's birthday last week.. Five days later he is picking and chording a favourite Australian folksong about a convict called Jim Jones - very moving! My son is a muso - his advice was that anything less than $1000 would be no good. Well he was wrong - now he too is delighted with the quality of this instrument. And the hard case makes it all the more special Thank you
