Artist BCHYTRB Translucent Black Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar

Based on our popular Cherry58 model, the Artist BCHYTRB was developed as a direct result of feedback from our customers looking for something with a little more versatility than the Cherry58.

While retaining many of the features of the more traditional Cherry 58 the Artist BCHYTRB differs because of the addition of the roller vibrato. This roller Trem style vibrato was popular in rockabilly from its earliest days and now has gained widespread popularity across many styles of music both on stage and in the recording studio.

With the typical set-neck that typifies most 335 style guitars, this is a great instrument for anybody looking for something unique in their sound. Like the body, the neck is constructed of maple on an ebony fretboard. This wood is a fine substitute for rosewood which is now considered a highly endangered species and as a result is rarely if ever used in general guitar building these days. The 22 frets show off the 'Dot' shaped plastic inlays and when you add to the comfortable ""C"" shape neck the roller trem vibrato system you have a great budget-priced guitar in every way.

The Artist Black Cherry sports chrome-covered Humbuckers with Alnico V magnets which means that you have the option of the warm throaty tones of the neck pickup or the biting clean sounds of the bridge pickup. When you set your toggle switch in between neck and bridge pickup you get that wonderful almost out of phase sound so this is an extremely versatile guitar that will be very responsive under your fingers. The addition of push-pull coil-splitting on both pickups is an extremely useful and versatile addition offering single-coil/ humbucker configurations in a variety of options to this wonderful instrument.

Grand Guitar

Nice guitar, able to use straight out to the box after a tune. Great sound and there is a big difference between switch setting and knob setting for better nice sounds. Feels great to play and has good sound when using the tremolo bar for altering the pitch of notes. Over all a good priced guitar for what it does, could do with some instructions on the knobs (had to hunt around to find what pulling out the knob did to the sound) . Looks great sitting in a guitar stand after playing and has been admired by friends who have seen it.

It may be an opportunity......

I bought this guitar a few months ago and have played it most of the time with no issues. You can turn your situation into an opportunity to self learn how to, firstly, make/build a guitar from scratch, set up intonation and with the neck being detached go through the fret checking and if necessary do relevant levelling. Sometimes a slight adjustment of truss rod can fix some apparently difficult fretting problems.... to you it's all positivity from here. PS I know and have built several guitar kits from Artist Guitars and recommend them.

A complete dud of a guitar.

By: on 15 September 2021
A purchased one of these a while ago. It was a factory second or customer return, can't remember. Anyway,it's been sitting in a case since I bought it & decided to start fixing it up. The listed problems with it were, a scratch on the lower horn & the output jack had come off the guitar. No problem, easy fix. I'm not particularly fond of Bigsby style trems but it was cheap. These trems are terrible when trying to restring, the whole assembly falls apart while you're trying to restring. The locking tuning machines are no better. In fact, these ones are not usable at all. So far, 2 of the thumbwheels have fallen out & they will not screw back in at all. Wasted a set of Elixer strings. I'm sure these guitars would be fine if they ditched the tacky tremolo & cheap locking tuners. Oh & the fret work on this particular guitar is lousy. Sharp edges & some frets are very uneven. It would most likely require a pro fret dressing to be playable, despite the guitar having never been played.

It's soo good..

I knew it was going to be good but..I'm not easily excited this guitar plays like a dream and the pickups sound better than anything in my stable. Just love the trans fade, the tuning machines are smooth and together with the 'bigsby' style whammy give very stable tunings . As usual the purchase gets the seamless A1 treatment that Artistguitars is well known for. Looking forward to my next purchase.
